MLB 24 The Show Greatest Teams Roster 1975-2024

First and foremost, I am going to finish the Pop Culture rosters. However, when I am done, I will be getting to work on a greatest teams roster, concentrating on the best teams from 1975-now. How did I select the teams? Well it's simple really. Any team that won a World Series, that team would be selected. If they won more than one, like with the Yankees, Cardinals, Giants, and Red Sox, I make a personal choice. If they didn't win a World Series, but made it into one, that team is chosen. If they didn't make it to a World Series, they must have made the playoffs. I don't think there's a single team that hasn't made the playoffs in the last 50 years. Basically, if they made multiple years, I go with another personal choice. So, here are the teams I will be compiling into one roster:

2001 Arizona Diamondbacks *COMPLETED*
1995 Atlanta Braves *COMPLETED*
1983 Baltimore Orioles *COMPLETED*
2004 Boston Red Sox *COMPLETED*
2016 Chicago Cubs *COMPLETED*
2005 Chicago White Sox *COMPLETED*
1975 Cincinnati Reds *COMPLETED*
1995 Cleveland Guardians (Indians) *COMPLETED*
2007 Colorado Rockies *COMPLETED*
1984 Detroit Tigers *COMPLETED*
2017 Houston Astros *COMPLETED*
1985 Kansas City Royals *COMPLETED*
2002 Anaheim (Los Angeles) Angels *COMPLETED*
2024 Los Angeles Dodgers *COMPLETED*
1997 Florida (Miami) Marlins *COMPLETED*
1982 Milwaukee Brewers *COMPLETED*
1991 Minnesota Twins *COMPLETED*
1986 New York Mets *COMPLETED*
1998 New York Yankees *COMPLETED*
1989 Oakland Athletics *COMPLETED*
2008 Philadelphia Phillies *COMPLETED*
1979 Pittsburgh Pirates *COMPLETED*
1998 San Diego Padres *COMPLETED*
2012 San Francisco Giants *COMPLETED*
2001 Seattle Mariners *COMPLETED*
2011 St. Louis Cardinals *COMPLETED*
2008 Tampa Bay Rays *IN PROGRESS*
2023 Texas Rangers
1993 Toronto Blue Jays
2019 Washington Nationals

I almost had the 2011 Texas Rangers until I remembered they won the World Series last year. There were some choices I had to make with the Giants and Cardinals, such as which team to choose. Ultimately went with 1982 Cards because they had the best record, though I wish I could have just one of the Albert-led teams. Chose the 2012 Giants because their fans seem to hold that team in the highest regard.

I'll be doing 40-man rosters unless the team didn't have 40 players that year, like the '75 Reds didn't. And there will be several players making more than one appearance on different teams. I'll have the 26-man roster set to their post-season roster, but if there's not enough like there was only 25 man rosters back in the day, the player on the team not on the postseason roster who played the most games for the team will be added.

However, as previously mentioned, I won't start work on these until the Pop Culture roster is done.

The title of the thread threw me off a bit. Maybe Adam, Able and Cain were in the outfield for the Angels in 1075

But great idea for a roster.

Yeah. I didn't notice the typo until after I posted it. If there's a way to fix it, I can't figure it out.

I'm still torn on the Cardinals...

1982, 2006, or 2011...

2006 is generally considered the weakest because they were 83-78, barely above .500, but the 2011 Cardinals were badass.

This is an awesome idea. I did something similar for Super Mega Baseball 3. I would put the 88 Dodgers in since we can already play with the 2024 team.

I thought about it, but the 2024 is much better imo. I was honestly close to using the 1981 team. But I play a full season with my rosters in franchise mode and I want to enjoy the teams I choose. The Dodgers are my favorite team, so having a world champion team pre-made saves time and it helps me have more fun while playing. I may do a second version with alternate teams included.

1982 ..... when in doubt just go with the earliest team

But, as of now, you have a great balance between 20th Century & 21st Century teams of 15 each

Thank you. That was my original choice, so I'll just stick with it.

I hated that they removed year-to-year imports. Makes these so much harder. For 2020, I found every possible imaginable player after years of porting over to create all-time franchises. I'm going to have to create a ton of these from scratch, it appears. Which is fine, but I created a lot of these guys before.
