EA UFC6. Let's go!

So the word is that 6 is underway and it may drop before the end of 2025. Thats pretty good news. I'll try to be as brief as possible about what we NEED in 6.

-CLINCH: We need interactive clinch back. At the very least, we need it back up against the cage. Pummeling, underhook(s), advancing/denying/reversing position. Cage work is present in 90+% of every fight we see. "Boo hoo, I dont like getting stuck against the cage!" With that rationale, full mount should be removed too. We have kayo/S&B mode, have fun with that. We had this in UFC3 and to be frank, it was a ridiculously stupid decision to remove it in 4 and 5.

-CAF: Bring back FULL CUSTOMIZATION. Stats, attributes, moves etc. Archetypes are cool, leave them. They get CAFs in the game quicker. But, they are limiting when trying to create an accurate representation of alot the MMArtists on the roster (or in other orgs) but not in the game. It would be a really nice touch too if you could allow us to create OUR OWN archetypes. Many fighters have similar styles and assigning a custom crafted/saved archetype would be sweet. Also, lets up the CAF slots substantially. 50 is a hell of a lot better than 22 but when theres 600+ active fighters on the roster, maybe 300 unique fighters in the game, we're still not getting close to filling out the ranks.

-UNIVERSE: This is probably a tough build with alot of moving parts and needs a lot of creativity. Even if it's just a calendar based system that just goes on and on and allows us to assign specific events (i.e. numbered events, fight nights, ESPN and ABC events) to specific days on the calendar. Keeps track of fight history/results, keeps track of who's already assigned to an event that hasn't been played/simulated yet. I have a great universe system set up in Excel that tracks everything (except rankings) and im not really a computer nerd. You guys could def build something better. Ya know what, throw in a generic arena and leave us a slot to enter the name of the city so when its on the upcoming calendar or history it'll say UFC 500 Boston, Mass. Simple stuff that adds a nice touch.

-PRESENTATION: Please don't butcher the presentation anymore. When 5 dropped you had it nailed. They were accurately represented full intro's with Buffer announcing their style, record, where they're fighting out of etc. The skipping of cut scenes was on point (from walkout to tale of the tape, to blue corner intro to red corner intro to "are you ready"). Now its walkout to "are you ready." And post fight it was skipping replay, to official decision, to corner "celebration." Now its one skip and its right to the "celebration." I know EA loves their metrics, but WHY did you remove all this stuff. IT WAS ALREADY THERE! "People didn't like having to hit skip multiple times..." So what. Deal with it. It's a total of maybe 3 seconds to skip thru everything. Thos eof us who wanna see it get to. Those who don't can skip. Why force everyone play like a casual?

Theres definitely more but these are my biggest hopes.Be nice to see PRIDE (and their rules)/ring/Strikeforce cage etc. But for me i feel like whats already there needs to be tightened up significantly. UFC3 was great and I had huge hopes for 4 but the shotcallers at EA slapped the fans in the face. Big time. Lets get back on track.

It’s been ten years, and they still haven’t released anything impressive. What are you still expecting? Around this time, these kinds of suggestion articles are everywhere, but when the actual game comes out, it’s just like UFC 5 now.

They can do it if they stop focusing on arcade locomotion and focus their foundation on physics. Madden was weightless and zero physics for a decade after the PS2 titles and they finally brought it back around. They need to realize we're playing a combat sports sim and not Street Fighter or Mortal Kombat is what it comes down to.

I'm not EXPECTING anything. Expectation = disappointment. Especially when it comes to MMA games. Personally, I thought EA UFC3 was great. Wasn't perfect (will there ever be a "perfect" MMA game...the sport is far too dynamic and ever evolving) but if was a solid, fun base. So what do they do? Re-invent the wheel. So, I'm HOPING they add the stuff I mentioned above.

Interactive clinch (had it, worked good, removed). With the new engine and what not, I'm sure its not as easy as cut and paste but I can't imagine they can't use what they had and build off of it to get it in 6. It not like they're working from the ground up.

Full CAF customizing (had it, worked good, removed). In my mind (and i know jack about designing a video game) this is an easy fix. The devs have the ability to go in weekly and manipulate stats. They update fighters on what, a weekly basis? The ability and software is there. How about you give it to the GD community.

Full presentations. No excuse. It was there in 5 when it released and they butchered it. The skip/cut scenes were on point. Then they remove it and give us a watered down version because it takes too long to press x and hold to skip a scene? And seriously...the end of a fight skips right from replay to celebration? Completely skipping over the reading of the official decision? What completely out of touch dingleberry though thatd be a good idea? Skipping over the decision to watch a character walk around in a half circle with his hand in the air for 3.5 seconds? Its like they do the stuff on purpose. Such a waste of a gaming license giving it to these guys. Not that they made a horrible game, its not horrible. Its playable. But thats about it.

I think you said my thoughts pretty much.

I'll add, I am not expecting some huge dramatic overhaul of the game, how it feels, and how it plays ....buuuuuuuuuut I AM expecting leaps and bounds in the presentation of it all.

The shortcuts taken when it comes to presentation is just inexcusable. MAYBE I'll give a pass because it was for a new platform, but now this will be the 2nd iteration on the next gen consoles.

It must add back all the shortcuts that were taken in the presentation of the sport.

My tiny wishlish after that is simply, MORE SUBS.

A LOT more.

As a BJJ bb myself, it just pains me to see all the missing subs that, ironically ONCE WERE IN THE GAME! lol

Anyway, my 2 cents.

More subs would be cool. On the subject of subs, I definitely dig the new system compared to the old one. My only gripe is that (offline), I know all I have to do is land the same sub twice (unless the AI is a jitz wiz...which generally = sinking it in 3 times). I've never nailed a sub on a first attempt even on a completely drained and battered AI opponent while using a bjj fighter.

I LOVE the DLC drops. This month we get Prates and Jean Silva. Loving the roster, for real. I'll just keep typing until my finger hurt: "interactive clinch and full caf customizing." We gotta get that back. With the foundation of this game laid down on the platform, there should be alot of time to fix things that need fixing instead of working on things that dont.

Re: EA UFC6. Let's go!

I disagree about the clinch.

UFC 4 and 5 has a better fundamentals than 3 and before. The main drawback is lack of positions which they should’ve added in ufc 5. Another is clinch breaks too fast. Striking in the clinch is way more exciting and it’s a smoother system.

But I would like revamp or modifications to the current one.

If possible. Create a new transition system for both clinch and ground. This would also be a better foundation for seamless submissions.

I disagree with you dude.

The best Clinch game among EA UFC was in UFC 3, b/c it has a real Clinch game, which was based on the same Dynamic grappling system (DGS) as on the Ground - _almost_ the same rules and deep mechanics.
_Almost_ b/c in far 2017 i wrote a thread about how to evolve Clinch system to its best:
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...-fix-them.html

Pros of UFC 3 clinch:
- Judo game
- Large gameplay level

In UFC 4-5:
- almost no Judo as a style
- The entire gameplay level was simply removed
- new "Clinch" is so primitive and rigid that it is almost not exist.

The lack of Clinch game in UFC 5 is the main thing i missed. Other aspects are good enough:
- Striking is good
- Ground is almost the same (b/c DGS developed by GameplayDevUFc was a brilliant)
- new Submission system has its pwn pros and cons.
