Essential Settings for NBA 2K

For SIM Offline players, at the start of each game you should switch to the CPU side to make sure their coaching settings are:

Freelance Series Order - Dynamic

Freelance Series Repeat - Do Not Repeat

This will ensure that you see the opposing CPU team to use a variety of plays in their playbook instead of just seeing them use the same 3-4 plays over and over again.

You will have to do this before every game to make sure these settings are implemented since I do not think these settings are saved for the CPU team.

It makes the game more realistic to adjust the help defense coaching slider also

does this really Change playcalling when going by the Name it should only influence Series?

You should try it and see it for yourself, it’s a game changer from what I’m experiencing. I’m seeing more variety when playing against the CPU now instead of the same 3-4 plays they were calling. Also the variety of play calling is now allowing role players to be more involved on offense for the opposing CPU team.

I really wish we didn't have to do this, because for people like myself, switching over to the other team before every single game is kind of an immersion killer.


Does 2K really not have the resources to dedicate to both offline and online players? I guess it's possible, but it's really unfortunate that Sim Nation is in the state that it's in due to a relative lack of focus from 2K, but you can skateboard in MyCareer.

I agree, it feels wrong switching your controller to the CPU team to set it up for the opposition right before tip-off but I’ve accepted that it’s the same mentality as editing rosters and gameplay sliders in order for the User to get the best gameplay experience anyways.

In past years I’ve set the CPU pick and roll coverage. Although this year I can’t get it to work. They just go under on every screen.

In past years I’ve made the best CPU defender guard my best player. Again this year though, these don’t stick.

So…not great Bob.
