Closest game of NHL in a while

This is probably the closest game of NHL I’ve played in a while stats wise for a single player game. I’m really liking the gameplay this year. I also play with attributes effect at 10 as I find it plays much smoother and more realistic. I won’t post my sliders yet as I’m testing more still.

How many minutes for a period? I do 8 minutes and have aggression and hitting way down, yet I'm still getting 50+ hits for each team in a game. Other than that, everything is pretty realistic.

Re: Closest game of NHL in a while

Good Morning ScottyKnowzz and Spragga
Greetings from the UK (ancient, elderly, off-line Season mode player)--sorry to interrupt.

Haven't bought NHL25 yet---was trying to monitor the boards to get some info, and your lead off post here "closest game of NHL " had piqued my interest.

There's SO MANY MIXED REVIEWS : I suppose its because a game that's spanned now 30 years, every generation plays the game different.
For every "old duffer like myself" , who plays the game in a certain way, there's players of a different generation, that love it for very different reasons to me....AND THATS GREAT--but for those that use the game in a more traditional way, I seek an informed review

I always play with reduced attributes on my roster (essentially I lower such attributes as Puck Control, Speed and Endurance on EVEY PLAYER apart from the very elite players---which although takes about 2 months, which in my opinion actually has the game playing better) * my theory that the game plays better like this is after I played a season using the SHL (Swedish League--where the players are rated between 70- topping out Star players at 80)

After spending so much time on NHL24 (annoying legacy problems aside), to where its playing very well---I am cautious about restarting with the newer--especially after reading that there's problems such as ...

*Goaltending animations - (Im hearing are really bad?)
*AI -( The CPU Dmen rushing up the ice, ?)
*One Timers (Going in every shot?)
*Presentation (Showing the wrong replays)

Could I please ask for your own opinion on the above issues?
Any information is a great help
With regards
Johnny

I was thinking about this yesterday while playing some EASHL with my buddy. Saw a few shots high and wide and it made me think of the attribute effect slider and how shots would miss like that regularly.

I know EA stated that it being set to 5 is what's best, but after years of the gameplay just being the same ole same I need a boost and maybe this right here will make things a tad less predictable and more life like. (crosses fingers LOL).

Re: Closest game of NHL in a while

YEs the goalie animations are a little awkward for sure. If you buy the game try this, set the game to superstar and change the attributes affect slider to 8 and lower the game speed to 0 or 1 and give that a try.

I am really liking the gameplay , of course there are still some tweeks to be made. Also the AI settings have a big impact on gameplay, once you set the ai at 4 or higher it seems like its' almost scripted for the CPU where as if you set it at 0 or 1 it seems more natural and random. any other questions just ask

Start with the attribute slider at 8 and go from there, you should notice a difference right away. I Feel it plays much smoother then it at 5.

Could you post your sliders? What are the type of goals you and the CPU score?
