Re: Sim guys
I've found myself this year relying more on the "Favorite Plays" section than I have in the past (the quick actions you get by pressing left on DPad). Things like Quick Isolation, Quick Post Up Floppy, Screen Fist, Fist Flare, etc. Alongside the P&R button.
I also like to have a few plays that I know from the playbook for specific situations I wanna get into such as a double screener P&R or a high post iso for a guy. But for these I like them to be pretty quick and utilize them almost like I do the other quick actions from the "Favorite Plays" section. I don't want something that's gonna take up the whole shot clock.
Then I pick an appropriate Freelance set for my personnel to get guys on the spots of the floor that I want them by default.
It's been a bit of an evolution for me but it's fun. I think a lot of it has come from me playing with Player Lock more this year so I had to learn how to really utilize the quick actions properly since you can't call full plays without the ball in your hands for some reason. But it's made it so my offense is modular, dynamic and specific. I sometimes run 3-4 quick actions for specific guys and have found myself being able to attack mismatches with more variety. I think this is probably closer to how a real coach sees the game than just running a couple of plays over and over that follow a script.
