Looks a little better than the Hughes brothers video from earlier, but uh, yeah... Still looks like janky-as-hell EA NHL from the last two decades.

Need to get it in my hands, but my god it's stale.

It seems on default that the handy one timer addition to the game is OP from the blue line. I guess not just star defenseman rip them. Casey Fitzgerald rips a one timer top shelf which gave him 3 goals on the season. I had never actually heard of him so I was like let's hockeydb him. He has 13 goals total in his pro career that started in 2019. None of them were scored in the NHL. Just shows that the ratings aren't drastic enough. Annoying.

Re: Full Franchise game video

Based that this was, actually, on default sliders:

Positive:
- game appears slower, not to slow though
- It looks like they removed that CPU sneeze at you and you stumble.
- Goalies play looks little bit more natural
- Gameplay wise looks better than 24. But that was almost impossible not to accomplish.

Negative:
- Where is neutral zone trapping from 23? CPU skates by way to easy.
- Still North -South, still waiting for some sort of East-West
- Your CPU defenders still clueless when defending.
- CPU defending still same, reacting on your stick moves, although i have seen less of them skating full speed with arm and stick extended, while waving stick(physically impossible IRL)
- Last goal is standard cheese , I can be almost certain that CPU will score 10 out of 10 in situations like that.Sergachev is great player but no sniper.

Overall, not worth full price, wait for sale, pending seeing more franchise gameplay from other streamers/Youtuber. Personally don't care about online.
Back to 23 and 20 for me , i guess.

Probably on a low difficulty.

Ratings have been an issue since NHL 15. They put in the “attribute impact” slider or whatever it’s called to differentiate, but it doesn’t do much since NHL players are around the same in most categories unless it’s the star players.

Fitzgerald is a decent d-man, but the shot him and Miller scored on shouldn’t be going in that frequently. I like that one timers work, but the goalie positioning should be better. Will have to mess around with sliders yet again.

Also the one thing I wish is that this game would resemble skating once again. While the turning graphics are much better, the movement has taken a turn for the worse since they’ve moved to the new engine. Too many stop/starts instead of short turns or constant movement. If you watch or play hockey, you’ll know guys don’t just stop and start all the time. It’s mostly on the puck that it happens in this game but it makes it look weird. At least the AI looks greatly improved though.

Re: Full Franchise game video

The skating and collision animations look better. Still a little too much start/stop stuff. CPU defense looks much more coherent and better in my opinion. CPU offense looks...worse than 24 I think. Still doing that terrible chip in dump that they can't retrieve 99% of the time. Just constantly entering the zone and turning the puck over by skating into a defender because they can't/won't set anything up. I don't see them doing any of that new feature they added. No edgework, no cycling, no behind the net, no using the boards, just force everything to the slot immediately and try to beat the defender 1v1.

Someone else uploaded a video as them as the Leafs vs the CPU Habs and, on default 3 min periods, the CPU got 2 shots on goal. Literally once in the entire game did they attempt to do something besides skate into the zone and turn it over immediately via trying to beat the defender solo. I am truly confused. From the trailer I got the impression we'd be seeing much more interesting and vibrant offensive zone play by the AI and yet it looks exactly the same out of the box as 24. How are we decades into hockey games and the CPU can't dump and retrieve the puck properly? Why can't the CPU use the new feature they added into the game?

At the very least I have at least not seen an own goal yet by a CPU d-man trying to clear the crease. Unfortunately those horrid goal celebrations are back...

To get cpu to dump and chase it is a must to edit their team strategies. Set thendunp slider high for some lines and have the proper forecheck for the cpu teams. It takes work to edit each team strategy especially if you want to edit according to real nhl team strategies, but it is very worth the time to do it.

You will feel a real difference between the teams.
