Fumbling on QB slide

Lately, I have had my QB, with 92 carry, fumble with every slide in which a defender hits him mid-slide. The CPU gets a base animation and my defenders just glide over them when they slide. I would not think I am sliding too late because it is usually not within diving distance of a defender

I’d argue that if a defender is hitting you mid slide that you are in fact sliding too late.

Just in case this is unknown by some, holding X (on Xbox) dives and allows the defense to tackle you. Tapping X slides, making the QB off limits.

Thats waht I thought, but I am sliding earlier and earlier and it still brings him out of slide animation

Re: Fumbling on QB slide

The biggest problem with sliding is that it doesn't seem like the animations play out correctly. If I hit the slide button (tapping X), it should immediately go into the slide animation, cancelling the tackle animations and marking you down from where you hit the button.

Please feel free to disagree, this is just what I think should be the case.

I agree, the slide mechanic needs work. First of all, it's not particularly responsive (at least on PS5) - I find I have to "tap" the square button multiple times for it to register and slide, otherwise it does nothing or he'll do a superman head-first dive which is pretty much the exact opposite of what I want to do (!) LOL

And then when you do multiple tap the button, sometimes I overdo it and end up in a no-huddle, which I don't want.

Also, it seems like it takes a bit too long to start the slide animation, but I suppose you can compensate by starting your slide earlier. Perhaps a charitable interpretation is that the game is trying to get you to slide before you have imminent contact, so you can't sort of "cheat" the mechanic? I dunno, that may be giving them too much credit.

Final comment on this is that I think QB's are just too prone to fumbling/errors when you use them in the run game in CFB25. I understand they're trying to fight the players that just scramble around and break plays to cheese the game, but they've made QB's so weak and fumble-prone that they're hard to trust in the run game at all. Which I suppose you could make that argument for NFL football, but in college football, running your QB is an integral part of many team's playbook, and you don't see them fumbling all over the place even in heavy contact. It seems like half the teams in D1 now feature some QB runs either via options or straight powers, and teams aren't afraid to run their QB's into heavy traffic (especially the option QBs). They don't fumble the ball at the drop of a hat, although obviously fumbles occur at the same rate as they do w/ any other player.
