Historic Roster Creators Unite PS5

Anyone who has done a full historical roster knows how much work it is. I cannot even count the errors but it is insane. How Iteach and other can do at least one per year by themselves is quite impressive.

Anyway to the point, I would love to do a roster similar to what I did back in Madden 18 (bestteams1984to2000) of getting some great teams together under one roster. But there are some considerations.

1) because of the pass heavy game that Madden has become I do not think teams before 1984 work that well (but can be persuaded see below).

2) I am very confident that I dont have enough time to do 32 teams on my own with all the equipment dressing / name changjng heights weights / ratings. so the purpose of this thread is to see if anyone would be willing to be part of a community effort?

The dream would be 8 creators each take one division and we schedule accordingly. for instance Creator 1 has time now and jumps in creating the four teams jn his division. creator 4 is busy now but has time from Sept 28 through Oct 4 so signs up to rake division 2 that week. etc etc

Once we know the inrerest we can talk about how long and when each person would want the roster. imagine we had 32 creators then maybe you only need two days to do your one team. Of course that is a dream world but lets say there is 8 of us wach doing one division, we can decide to dedicate 1-2 weeks of intense creating to get our 1 division done and passed to the next person.

If this goes nowhere so be it, I just know that this can be exciting for 4 or even uo to 10 teams but after weeks of energy spent and you realize you are not even a 3rd done the BURN OUT is REAL and so many ideas go unfinished. But imagine working hard to get a division done and then getting a break while someone else expands on what you did. After a few weeks you may even want ti jump in and do a second division because you can actually visualize a finish line.

I am still considering what angle to take, but the more I have done these the more I find it difficult to have to big of an era or season span. Meaning Madden gameplay is just not conducive to pair the 72 dolphins against the 2023 Chiefs. Either you have to make the 72 Dolphins play with a pass happy modern playbook which ruins immersion OR you watch the chiefs win 9 or 10 of 10 simulations because the run heavy playbook almost always losing to the modern pass happy ones (which makes sense since Madden is trying to simulate nfl football in 2024)

So I have found limiting to about a decade or so is a good balance.

This way you can still see what if the 72 dolphins played the 78 Steelers or 76 raiders. Or the 1999 Rams play the 1996 Packers. You just don’t get 1999 Rams vs 1966 packers.

So right now I’m likely to start with the best teams of the 70s. Although wondering if I should go back to 1966 or just do 70-79 and then maybe do a 60-69 sometime down the road. If I did that though 60s may be a ways off as 80s and 90s are my favorite eras.

But 2000s and 2010s would be the easiest / least amount of work.

So 60-69 could easily end up being last / never be done as when I tried this before I think I got through two decades and just burnt out.

So anyway to wrap up. Will be starting on an either 70s only best teams or a 66-79 best teams roster shortly.

If you or anyone else wants to be involved maybe this can get done quicker or we can collaborate and work on two at a time etc.

Actually thinking this through I don’t think decades is the best way to split eras.

There was a lot of change from early 70s to late 70s and same in the 80s.

I think the best way to move forward is this:

1960-1974 run heavy / QBs with more TDs than ints are the best in game.

1975-1983 run balanced / passing game contributing more but defense still wins the day

1984 - 2003 pass balanced. Passing numbers start to inflate but running backs are still huge stars. Does offense or defense win games now?

2004 - today pass heavy. QBs need to be over 63% and at least 2-1 TD to int ration. 70% and 4-1 ratio if they cannot run. RBs are interchangeable and defense is still important but just different (edge rushing and nickel defense mandatory)

I think Madden can handle a competitive game between 84 dolphins or 49ers and 99 Rams. I also think 2006 Colts and today’s chiefs work easily in Madden 25. This is why the newer eras span more years.

Sounds good. Sorry for a late response, I've been very busy with work and health stuff going on. Wish I could help in some way but don't think at this time I could. I know as you said this can get you burnt out real quick. I have done rosters in past and it does burn you out sometimes fast.
