Pick Your Poison.

OS, lets play a game: Predict your death.

One of these days, I'm going to choke to death on the original KFC chicken skins. I wish I could get them packaged like Fruit Roll-ups. Or like the individually wrapped cheese slices. KFC Skins Singles would be huge, like those pudding skins singles you can get.
And if by chance I dont choke to death on them, all that KFC is bound to explode my heart. Either-or.

And dont even get me started on some KFC mash potato and gravy.

So OS, pick your poison. What's going to get you first?

Dr Pepper. It just tastes so dang good. I don't drink anywhere near as much now as I did when I was younger though.

Too many Red Bulls. Bound to catch up to me. I try to just drink the sugarless one but I'm sure they're still not great for your health.

Re: Pick Your Poison.

Once I move to Alaska, I envision myself being violently mauled to death by a grizzly bear. Sadistic as it sounds, I say that with dark humor, though it could eventually prove itself true. I will be moving to either Bethel or Valdez within the next ten years. Bethel sits just outside the range of polar bears, but both towns have various concentrations of grizzly/brown bears.

Realistically, though, I will probably get taken out by either a head injury or a heart issues. Since suffering the most consequential brain injury I have had in 2022, I have had a few other falls due to seizures, which is relatively common among people dealing with TBIs (traumatic brain injuries). On top of that, my blood pressure stays out of whack due to the symptoms and side effects of dealing with my head.

Life is difficult for me right now, but that is just how it is sometimes. I take proper medications, but my body picks and chooses how it reacts. I suspect one of the root issues with it all is my neck, which caused a severe herniated disk in 2018 in an on-duty fight. Months later, while pursuing a suspect on-foot, as I tackled him, I further damaged the vertebrae and ended up getting an ACDF at my C5/C6/C7 vert. That's the price we sometimes pay to play the game of life. I don't regret it and would do it all again if allowed to return. In both situations, the suspects were violent and out of their minds due to heavy drug usage. I never picked fights while I was an officer [though others have and probably still do], but I certainly never backed down from any when the situations presented themselves and needed to be handled. I grew up scrapping and boxing as it is, so getting involved in the shallows of jiu-jitsu, pressure point fighting and other techniques came with relative ease.

Years ago, I would have predicted myself going downhill to pills to deal with my pain, whether it be opiates or neurological blockers, but I went cold turkey off of everything and started doing yoga stretches instead. From there, I trained myself to deal with pointed pain and nerve pain, and it eventually turned into me being at peace with the pain and enjoying its company at times. Please don’t judge. People cope in different ways. This is the healthiest way I know how. Through verbal judo and other psychological studies, I present my voice at a level that is never raised unless I claim the attention of a room. That is my new approach to life.

I am sorry I turned this into what it is. I do not intend to hijack your topic, as it is a perfect talking point.

I’m diabetic so it’s gonna be a Reese’s or a cookie that will get me.

No apologies necessary. Its an excellent post and fits the topic perfectly and is on point as much as KFC or anything else. And thanks for sharing.

Re: Pick Your Poison.

I could have also named this thread Things You Have A Love Hate Relationship With...

Tacos. Do they have to be so messy to be so good? Invariably I always get more on me than in me. I either need a bigger mouth or smaller tacos
