PC crazy CPU temps

Hi people, I'm sharing this because I don't know if this is just something just happening to me or not:

Everytime I run the game, during the load screen the CPU is at 100% load all the time reaching 74-75 degrees (i7 13700K) and the same happens in loading screens prior to the game.

Doesn someone have this same issue??

Re: PC crazy CPU temps

Unfortunately, this likely has to do with your CPU being part of the "Raptor Lake" line of processors. Intel has admitted there is microcode causing the CPUs to pull more power than they should, which is stressing CPUs and heat sinks, thus leading to instability, crashes, and even CPU damage.

For reference, here's the list of of CPUs effected (verified by multiple sources):
  • i9-14900KS
  • i9-14900K
  • i7-14700K
  • i9-13900KS
  • i9-13900K
  • i7-13700K

Re: PC crazy CPU temps

It's just how the game is. I have a 7800x3d and my CPU spikes to 100% for a second reaching 80C during load screens

Re: PC crazy CPU temps

This game absolutely belts CPUs. My 5800x3D hits 85 degrees during gameplay. This is not the norm for me. It's cooled by a 280mm radiator and doesn't go above 75 degrees in stuff like Cyberpunk with path tracing. The Last of Us PC port was the last game to really cook my CPU in this way. I think it must have something to do with the way some newer console ports do memory management.

My problem is with load screens, during the game it stays in the 40s. Maybe you are playing @ 1080p so the game is more CPU dependant?

This isn’t crazy temps. You’re fine.

It sounds like your temperatures are normal for high-demand games, but to reduce the load, you could try undervolting your CPU slightly to lower power consumption and heat. Also, optimizing your cooling system can help keep things more stable during loading peaks.
