competitive vs simulation ; Hot / Cold Streaks

I'm starting to sour on this game...

I've always played on simulation in my franchise never even thinking about playing on competitive. I'm just so burned out on the computer "forcing" a hot or cold streak on my players. The beginning of the season is so brutal, every guy in the lineup is going to trend towards a hot/cold streak then flip flop, it's so predictable. I could be hot with a guy and you can tell when they are bringing you back to earth no matter what you do. I get why they do it in the code to force the statistics and gameplay to regress/achieve the mean of the player ratings. I'm just so tired of being on pitches and getting the "nerfed" results. I want to earn/lose my streaks because of my at bats not b/c of pre-dictated code.

I was wondering if anyone plays their franchise on competitive?

I play on Legend/Legend (Timed Hitting & Meter); My pitching sliders are fine but Hall of Fame is just too easy for hitting b/c the pitchers throw too many pitches in the core of the strike zone. I love how pitchers pitch and locate on legend against me but even with Contact & Timing increased I feel like I'm getting hosed too often on great swings; and with me being an old head and using timing (I don't have the stick skills anymore) the hot/cold streaks are causing me to maybe hang the game up until next spring. I've played 162 on each of the last two games but this one, which most of us think is a better game, is starting to frustrate me.

I've researched some older threads but getting good info is hit or miss. Thanks for any feedback.

I can't help but look at this from a different angle. I love the hot and cold streaks because I feel like it mirrors the real game. I watch a lot of baseball just like most of us, and there are stretches of games where my team in real life just can't make solid contact even on a hanging change-up.

I also don't really want to dominate the my games all the time in the show. So I like the non-robotic feel of players having highs and lows.

I also don't really think the hot and cold streaks necessarily are stats achieving/regressing to the mean, because I've seen players have seasons way above or below what their attributes would suggest.

I view it similar to a manager/coach. Sometimes you set up everything as best it can be, and it still just didn't work.

Re: competitive vs simulation ; Hot / Cold Streaks

There is a thread on Sim vs Comp modes. Hot and cold streaks exist there too, though maybe not as pronounced as on Sim? I'm not sure.

Comp has a smaller PCI compared to Sim. So pitches on the edge of the PCI, you're more liable to swing and miss on Comp, whereas on Sim you're more likely to make contact, but weaker contact.

But CountryBoy pointed out that pitches you square up in the middle of the PCI are rewarded with harder hits on Comp than Sim. I played the first 50 or so games on Comp before switching to Sim. So far, I've found that to be true.

So if you feel like you're not being rewarded for good swings, it's worth giving Comp a try.

Alternatively, if the only real issue on HOF is the pitcher throwing too many strikes, you could also try reducing the strike frequency slider on that level to see how it works.
