NBA 2K25 Handheld PC (Steam Deck, Ally, Claw, Go) discussion

Hey guys. Checking in to centralize discussion of performance, settings, battery life, etc.

I was able to play a few minutes this morning and was blown away by the performance on my Ally X.

I used the recommended "Steam Deck" preset in the Video Settings and set my TDP to 17W with FSR 2 on, and AFMF on and was getting 120 FPS in the scrimmage mode!

This is with the resolution set to 720P in settings and the Ally X set to 900p.

I'm confident I can set the TDP even lower or the resolution higher and have very good FPS in regular games with crowds, cutscenes, etc.

This is a total game changer, full NBA 2K25 CURRENT GEN experience at low TDP on the go.

Re: NBA 2K25 Handheld PC (Steam Deck, Ally, Claw, Go) discussion

So far it's running pretty well on the Steam Deck BUT I would say my only complaint is the gameplay feels a tiny bit blurry, I can't quite put my finger on it. Cut scenes and player close-ups during stoppages look amazing, but the actual gameplay when it's in action feels slightly blurry or off and not really a step up from "old gen" 2K24.

Motion blur is off in the settings, otherwise I haven't tinkered with anything.

Try setting the resolution scaling method to none. That helped me with the blurriness issue I was having.

I saw someone on Reddit say the same thing so I'll try it out, thanks. That person said they also turned HDR on. Did you do that as well?

Re: NBA 2K25 Handheld PC (Steam Deck, Ally, Claw, Go) discussion

Running on ROG Ally original with the Xtreme processor and it looks and plays great, with the only minor complaint I have being that the controls feel a little laggy to me. When doing dribble moves or when shooting it feels like there is a tiny bit of latency that I have never noticed in other titles.

I am running at 1280x720 and most things on low. It is impressive looking for a handheld for sure but if I can't time up shots it's going to be a long season. I have it on a gaming PC as well and the timing there is spot on! Thoughts? Anyone else notice this and have a workaround?

checking back in, I moved the TDP down to "Silent" (13W) on my Ally X and am getting around 80 fps. The Ally X's bigger battery is CLUTCH.

That's really impressive you get good frames on silent. im Ally X too I find that the sweet spot for Ally x is resolution scaling method on intel xess this seems to be smoother and better quality than amd fsr2. I have overall quality on steam deck.
