My elite dev players progress less than anyone?

Basically what the title says. The handful of elite dev trait guys I’ve gotten have just not progressed much. Whereas I’ll have random 74 overall impact dev WRs go from 74 to 85 in a year

Some examples- 79 overall elite dev true freshman qb throws 54 td and wins natty, gains 1 point

75 overall elite dev CB has 12 picks in 2 seasons and is an 80 (random star dev CB who’s never started went from 74 to 85)

Those are two that have really produced and stand out. But it just seems my impact and stars gain the most points.

Anyone else seeing this?

Re: My elite dev players progress less than anyone?

Would be nice if the Devs sat down an explained this in a guide or video, so we know what to expect (Even if there's wildcards).
Player progression as a whole seriously needs more transparency. It all just seems random right now, and we should be able to track which players are progressing fast or slow within the 4 years and why. There's coach abilities for player goals, but where do we see a players goal? How much XP did a player even get after a game?

If the traits are supposed to progress at a faster rate, then why can't we see they gained 500XP for the player goals x Elite Rate?

Progression is based on development trait, coach skills, skill caps, and some randomness to keep it dynamic. Production doesn't play a major role in progression(thank god!).

Development traits don't guarantee how a player will progress, they just give you an idea on how they likely are to progress, e.g. take 100 elite dev players and 100 normal dev players and the elite players will noticeably develop more in their careers.

Players also do not progress in static and predictable manners. Some players will develop after year 1 and not progress further after that, some progress annually their entire careers, some don't progress after year 1, progress after year 2, and so on, you get the picture.

If you're tracking your players and are noticing your elite players aren't developing at a higher rate on average than the other dev trait players, then that's some unfortunate luck since overall those players will generally develop the most and become the best players.

All of my players progress pretty normally.

I also was also under the impression that the player improvement was directly tied to the motivation perks you bought. I bought and leveled up the motivator perks so my guys improve more on the off-season and have never seen otherwise.

This is facts! But you also need to remember that there's plenty of "busts" and sometimes players just won't progress. RNG does play a BIG role though.

I recently created a save and rerolled my Training Camp and it's crazy to see the different progressions that come out of it. Players that are a 60 overall will be an 80. The one you want to progress will go up a point if at all.

It's depressing when you have a stud player that you are building your team around and he doesn't even go up and take the starting gig. Trust me I get it. Either thrust him into the spot regardless and get the season XP or just ride another year with him on the bench in hopes that he will be ready next season.

It's definitely random to a degree, which I'm fine with for the dynamic gameplay it introduces.

I like the generality of the system, overall, and I really like your last paragraph. It can be heartbreaking to see a kid not develop like you expected, but that's how the sport is in real life at times, and on tbe flip side, you'll get guys that far exceed their initial expectations.

It's fun to get varying challenges in a realistic fashion, imo. You can recruit a solid roster and get what looks like a stud QB and think you'll be competing in a couple of years, then that QB turns out to be a bust and you've got to figure things out fast or risk wasting some of the talent you brought in at other positions.

During Madden 23 on PC, the mod folks created a Player progression tool that added some randomness, so you'd have occurrences like yours were a player got a 10+ OVR boost. It was rare, but it did kind of simulate the players that had a good off-season. I remember being years in and seeing a Steven Montez tearing my D up, I thought he was a drafted player, but he was a real player haha.

Re: My elite dev players progress less than anyone?

I think a lot of people don’t know about players’ stat caps as well. Every player has a ceiling above which they can never progress, and some of these ceilings are pretty low. Sometimes a player will not progress very much in a year due to bad RNG, but sometimes they won’t progress because they’re already as good as they’ll ever be.

For those that don’t know, you can see their caps in the player screen (hit Y on player when viewing roster, but not depth chart and then tab over with RB).
