New hockey fan

Newer hockey fan, go Sharks.
I've always followed on the peripheral but this past seasons playoffs really gor me into it. NHL 24 has awful reviews. Which copy should I pick up for PS5 while I wait for the new one to release and drop in price. Rosters don't mean much to me as I dont know anything about teams lol. Hockey's the one videogame where realism won't matter and fair trades because idk what's realistic lol.

Hello from a Ducks fan (can't wait both Sharks and Ducks are competitive again so we could have great playoffs matchups)! Welcome on board!

I personally don't get all the negativity around NHL 24. If you don't know where to start, NHL 24 is a good starting point. Or just wait for NHL 25, it's not that far away. You said you don't care about realism, but if you do, check out these sliders, they provide very good experience in my opinion.

If you can get NHL 24 cheap and I mean like $15 bucks or so get that. That way when NHL 25 comes out you are up to snuff on its controls. If you go NHL 23 or older you won't have the controls that 24 introduced.

But if not, hold off until NHL 25 drops. Only a month away basically.
