Superstar Abilities - On or Off, and why?

So I test alot of different slider sets to see what provides unique and good gameplay as close to the real thing as possible.

In many different play styles of people with their sliders and with their thinking of their Franchises, some turn off the Superstar Abilities and I ask why?

Every player is different and unique in their own way so if you have two 90+ Wide Receivers and you have Superstar Abilities off on them, what makes them different if they have close to the same attributes?

I personally think keeping SS ability ON (even if it may be overpowered to some people) adds a uniqueness to each player.

What makes Justin Jefferson, Jamar Chase, Amon-Ra St Brown, and AJ Brown different if you turn off their SS abilities?

I can see your logic on keeping them on, but I choose to turn them off. To me, it seems too "gimmicky," and actually pulls from the realism that I strive for while playing.

Again, your logic for keeping them on definitely makes sense to me but it just doesn't seem to be the case for me when I play.

Off, because the superstar abilities don’t scale with the sliders. For example, if you set the interceptions slider to 0, most interceptions leaders will have 2 or 3 interceptions at the end of a season - except those with pick artists or similar abilities - and they will have 9 or 10.

Always On. It sets apart the elite players. That was missing from Madden for so long. The best should play like the best. Turning them off is just setting the game back to a time when there was no player differentiation in my opinion.

I definitely agree. Besides locking animations behind rating thresholds, ratings alone aren't enough to differentiate players. At times it can be OP, but the Superstars and X-Factors definitely stand out. Someone like DeVante Adams is a problem when he's hot. If I'm facing a DL or MLB that's a Superstar or X-Factor, I'm not running in their direction.

I'm currently doing a QB Superstar Mode with the Raiders. Adams alone, makes it worthwhile because of his abilities

I like the idea of both them and HFA, but the execution leans more towards arcade/gimmick than sim style IMO. Some are OP (like Acrobat) and/or don’t make sense, such as any QB ability that straight up grants perfect accuracy.

Abilities are much more balanced in CFB25. Some of them are just too powerful in Madden.

I think Gambit is the one you're talking about. Yeah it seems cheesy to not throw Interceptions and increased Pass Speed. I never even seen the desire to get the Bazooka ability. In most cases, you aren't even going to take advantage of that ability. Just like the Truzz ability. Why would want to choose to have an ability to prevent fumbles, unless you're saying Fumbles are frequent.

I do agree that the CFB abilities are more grounded.

Re: Superstar Abilities - On or Off, and why?

I always turn them off. They are overpowered like the HFA, and seem to create scenarios that just shouldn't be a thing (every single time). I am one who wants simply the ratings to absolutely matter, and from all of the editing I am allowed with player ratings, tendencies, sliders, settings, et.al. I "feel" like I get ratings alone to actually matter.

I always turn ball hawk, heetseeker and any other novelties off, as well.

I set up the game to be as baseline as I always can, and I gotta tell you, one of the most annoying things is ever hearing any of those folks who will attack or try to belittle me for it - and then on every other thread or post, it's the same fools talking about cheesing, what's too arcade, what's not simulation enough, etc. There's some walking contradictions around these parts.

Anyway, back to the point. If I have to sum it up, I'll say that with the old school thinking that this code is akin to dice rolls, then every novelty extra we can turn on per players just seems like cheating because you're giving those players extra dice to work with. I don't want that back alley of Brooklyn dice game going on. Keep it real, please. As real as possible, at least.
