Hopefully the 2k game comes to fruition. It would be great to have 2 more footy games in 2k and UFL. The more the merrier. Something tells me that there is as much smoke as a Snoop Dogg hotbox than there is fire. I hope 2K comes through. We'll have to wait and see.

I agree DirtyCobra!

Not only another game but a company with as many resources as Take-Two (NBA 2K, GTA, Civilization, etc…). They have the brand name to put some fear into EA.

I wish, but I don't see it. And as cutthroat and negative as gamers can be nowadays, if 2K put out a flawed game it would be roasted and likely relegated to late era PES status. With only a small cult audience buying it every year, and everyone else thinking of it as a meme even though it had the superior gameplay.

It's the same with people desperate for a new NFL game. They would be the first to tear it down if it wasn't perfect right out of the gate. These companies have zero interest in investing tons of money into something only to have it land with a thud. See: when EA brought back NBA Live.

I think 2K would have the resources to make a good game BUT it would take time and thus bring up a lot of the issues you mentioned dub.

I think the bigger obstacle is the licenses. EA has that Premier League license on lock and in 2024 I don't think there's enough people who would overlook it, especially when you see popular streamers like you mentioned in the FIFA thread not want to play a realistic game.

True, I forgot about the licenses. EA has most of the leagues tied up in exclusive deals. Efootball is able to steal a few exclusive team rights/licenses every year (which feels semi ironic because that game doesn't focus on actual teams/leagues at all), but a new game coming out would have very few options. The FIFA license would get you a name on the front of the box, and not much else outside of World Cup years. The end product would at best probably be a hybrid of UFL and efootball with a bigger budget and market presense, but hopefully with some kind of offline modes.

Re: Addressing the 2K Soccer Rumors: Is There Any Actual Smoke?

If 2K did want to jump into the fray then I think they would best be served making a game based around national teams and those tournaments. Men's/Women's World Cup, African Cup of Nations, CONCACAF, AFC Champions League, Copa America. You could get a lot of mileage out of that. Since anyone can use the FIFPRO license you'd have the real players and could hit a large audience. They probably could even work out a way to individual license teams for a Club World Cup mode somehow.
