Seeking Advice For Running A High School Style Dynasty

I’m about to start my dynasty mode using my high school conference, along with a separate division for out-of-conference rivals. Instead of a traditional college setup, I want to approach this as if it’s high school, which means imposing some recruiting restrictions to keep things realistic.

In real life, high school teams can’t recruit—they're stuck with whatever talent comes from the school system. To mimic that, here’s what I’m thinking:

- NO scouting allowed—whatever the player talent level, I accept it as is
- Only recruit players who have me as their number one school
- Only recruit players in the same state
- Only recruit players with same star level as my school (MAYBE one star above)
- Opportunity for Juco or portal player every other year, acceptance determined by coin flip

My concern is that this approach could put me at a disadvantage if my conference opponents can elevate their talent levels more easily. Do you think this method will work for a long term dynasty, or are there any adjustments you'd recommend?

I appreciate any input!

EDIT: upon doing a quick look at recruiting, I’ve realized some exceptions will have to be made based on player availability.

But the rule of thumb is to blindly recruit (no scouting) the most interested prospects at the current star grade of my school and only recruit positions with a graduating senior.

I haven't done a lot of recruiting in this game yet but I feel like this is going to put you at a pretty huge disadvantage.

The best option might be to just do it in Play Now and keep track of your record. And then after each season go through Teambuilder and edit your team and your opponents to remove the seniors and add new players.

Assuming you are playing as a 1-star prestige team for this scenario as well, this is going to severely limit your ability to bring in enough players to keep a full roster.

Often times there are only a dozen or two dozen players with any level of interest in a 1-star school by default. The number of recruits with a 1-star school as their top choice is even fewer. The number who are going to have a 1-star school as their top choice and be in the same state could possibly be zero. You're compounding this issue by only allowing yourself to sign no more than one player from the portal every other year.

If you're okay with having a roster well short of the 85-player limit which is full of walk-ons who only show up after position changes, fine, but be aware of what you are signing up for.

Note taken. Maybe I can amend that to top 3 schools and pipeline states only. I want to stay as true to my original proposal as possible.

I would say anyone who starts off interested in you is fair game, especially if you keep it to pipelines.

I agree here. It's still restricting but not debilitating, especially depending on your team selection.
