CPU Running more?

All of a sudden the CPU runs the ball way too much and at first I was like okay maybe it’s a few teams but it’s all the time.

Going into this CFP game against Oregon it said they threw the ball 70% of the time and then they threw it 9 times vs 36 runs. Is there any reason for this? I finally started using sliders could that affect it?

Re: CPU Running more?

Definitely more runs post-patch and I am getting gashed (and also picked apart through the air when they decide to pass)

Noticed this too…Tennessee started my game against them with 19 straight runs. It was working so hard to blame them lmao

I’ve noticed this too, specifically against Oregon, FWIW. I appreciate it to a point. I’d rather that than 6 early runs and put the ball in the air for 2.5 quarters.

Initially I thought it was a side effect of QB play, because early on it seemed that the QBs were a bit less effective.

I think, without actual testing evidence that this game has logic that promotes the CPU going back to plays that work, specifically run vs pass. If they’re ripping off 6 yards per carry, no need to roll out the pass. It also seems to be heavily(like very heavily) momentum based. You can also throw all of that away because I’ve played Oregon and had them at less than 3 YPC into the third and they’re still trying to run their ****ty slow mo outside zone.

That’s all my opinion, based on anecdotal evidence in the very small sandbox in which I play. It does feel like the CPU runs more post-patch for whatever reason.

Re: CPU Running more?

Someone posted in another thread that you can use R2 and L2 plus square/x to see run fits on defense. I’ve used it a couple times to make sure I’m putting my players where they need to be to defend the run.

I like to use nickel back zone blitzes out of nickel to run blitz, and I’ve found where you aim that blitzer if you user them like I do, even if it means he runs into a blocker, makes a huge difference. You can’t just always go outside the tackle, which is what I’ve always done.

Re: CPU Running more?

Wish I was seeing more runs. My HB led the nation with 13XX yards.

I play half my games and get around 150 a game. Over 7 games that's approx 1,050. You're telling me he averaged approx 36 yards a game over the other 7? Dude should be pushing 1700+.

I have yet to see in 8 seasons a back get over 1500 rushing yards in a season. 2023 had 5 alone.

Re: CPU Running more?

I think the percentage thing they put up on screen at the beginning of playoff games is the percentage of yards teams got from passing vs. rushing. It's always between 65-70% which would be very pass heavy if it was attempts.

Re: CPU Running more?

Honestly I love seeing the CPU run the ball.

In fact on both varsity and All American I specifically created sliders built around CPU running game.

I got sick of not seeing the CPU being able to run the ball just as effective as USER rushing game.

I love that we can also alter Run/Pass Ratios for teams if we like.

The fact that they do run more has made this game a joy for me to play and watch
