Can We Talk Audibles (Offense)???

I am manning storm Debby at the moment. I found a site that has all the plays listed for offense and defense for CFB25. Found it last night and have been super excited to see all the plays without having to search and toggle and all that. Have a sheet going right now with what my audibles will be. Going to set them up after Debby has her way with south central VA.

So, just curious, how much do you all audible on offense?

Audibles work a little differently than '13 and '14. So, what are you looking for when you audible? I usually come out in a run formation, and if things look all bunch and close together, I audible to a pass play. That's how I used to do it on older games.

Any audible tips would be appreciated.

Re: Can We Talk Audibles (Offense)???

The one thing I do consistently is I have the audibles be consistent. This goes for offense and defense. I always have either a run or rpo on triangle, something quick on square, something deep on circle, and a screen on circle. It makes it really quick to get into my offense when running no huddle. On the other side I do the same on defense. I have some type of cover 4, cover 3, zone blitz and cover 1. Makes it quick to combat the no huddle.

Thanks for the quick reply. Those are good ideas. Any tips on what makes you audible?

I run a no huddle offense, so most of my play calls are “audibles” which sucks massively compared to ‘14. In ‘14 I had access to every play of every formation for my current personnel grouping (which is much more realistic as long as I’m running a normal no huddle and not a turbo). But in ‘25 when running no huddle I don’t get all the plays per formation but rather only 4 per. Because of that my top priority with audibles is variety. If I only have 4 formations for 21 personnel, then I’m not gonna have 4 inside zones. I’ll have 1 inside zone, 1 outside zone, 1 dive, and 1 trap as my run plays. There’ll be 1 HB screen and 1 or 2 rpos, and 1 or 2 playactions, etc.

Yeah, the fact that they actually took a step backward on how many plays are available in the No Huddle from NCAA 14 is disappointing. I was hoping they would add in the ability to substitute in the No Huddle but I understand that would be a pain to animate.

I also wanted to have the 14 system but since they went backwards my audibles are almost always 3 RPOs and one dropback pass which functionally gives me about 7 plays per formation and the illusion of having more to work with

Re: Can We Talk Audibles (Offense)???

I start each formation choosing 1 play that I want to run. Then I choose my audibles based on what the defense might do to take away my base play.

For example I have Gun Wide Slot Right Weak in my playbook:

My base play is probably the Inside Zone Split.
I would probably have Counter Y as an audible I could go to depending on the defensive front
Then if the defense brings the weak safety into the box, or is cheating their nickel defender in, I could have RPO Glance Bubble as an audible
I would also have RPO Read Y Flat as an audible to go to if the defense comes out with the linebackers up in the A gaps.
Then my 4th audible would be the PA Deep Choice that I would go to if the play side safety comes into the box, or I just think I have a good chance to take a shot.

You could also have your base play be a pass concept you like against man-to-man defense. Your audibles could then be a pass you like against 2-high zones, a pass you like against single-high zone, a screen pass, and a draw.

Whatever play you're trying to run, your audibles should set up to compliment that play.

Re: Can We Talk Audibles (Offense)???

The most obvious audible, which I think is automatic in offenses these days, is if you get to the line and have even numbers or an advantage (of blockers vs. defenders) in the box you should audible into a run. If you have as many blockers or more as there are defenders up front you'll be able to win at the line of scrimmage and run the ball.

If you have a receiver uncovered at the line (really only happens with inside receivers) hot route them into something quick like a slant or out that you can throw immediately. Get the ball in their hands right off the snap before the defense can get someone over to cover them.

If they're playing way off coverage audible to a short pass or hot route someone to run a slant.

If they show blitz either identify your "hot" receiver (the one you'll throw to against the blitz) or hot route someone to run a slant or out that you can throw quickly against the blitz.
