Why do my RB & TE line up as WR in 5 wide sets?

When I am running plays with 5 WR it's always 3 WR and a RB and TE. Never 5 WR. This happens no matter what formation I am in.

Some 5 wide sets are like that where the WR and the TE are in those spots. I know "Spread Flex" the TE is always the right side slot receiver. One of the stacked formations there is always a running back on the far left side as well.

Yeah but I am literally talking every time I have 5 WR it's 3 WR, RB and TE. In 4 WR sets it's 3 WR and my TE.

So the 4th and 5th WR on my depth chart are only on the field when they sub in for another WR

Re: Why do my RB & TE line up as WR in 5 wide sets?

I’ve had this happen to me too. I noticed in my final dynasty game, but have no clue if it happened before that game. I called a 5WR formation and my starting HB was in the slot.

I have an 11 personnel empty set, but this wasn’t it. I call plays by personnel, so it was most certainly a 00 personnel 5 WR formation.

I checked my SLWR, and WR depth charts and my HB was not in either.

If I had to guess, maybe some of my 6 WRs and/or 3 SLWR guys were too tired/worn and torn to fill the 5 slots of my formation, so it grabbed the next best person not in the depth chart.

Is your HB and te listed in you SLWR depth chart slot? If so, that’s your answer.

Some formations are like that so you can go no huddle and without substituting switch between 5 wide and back to 11 with an inline TE and RB in the backfield. You basically could get a defense stuck in dime personel and then run it

I've noticed that HBs usually have a high Short Route Running, which places them in the Slot WR depth chart.

Which sets? Empty in EA world does not mean 5WR, only explicitly marked 5WR sets do. Most Spread sets work that way too. Unless they say 4WR they aren't 4WR. Because of the very arbitrary audible restrictions this was EA's work around to get realistic no-huddle and audibles that let RBs and TEs line up out wide like they do all the time in real life
