Dynasty: Any Redeeming Qualities?

Comparing to previous NCAA dynasty modes, what does this do better?

- '14s player progression was awful, but I recall earlier games working better.

I think that's all I can come up with; not counting NIL and transfers which didn't (or hardly) existed. A lot has been stripped away. Teambuilder dynasty is a disaster... unplayable(it's almost like they intentionally sabotaged it it's so bad).*

Re: Dynatasy: Any Redeeming Qualities?

Outside of having more quality of life features and not having the scheduling bugs that CFB25 has, I don't think 14's dynasty did anything better.

All you do in both CFB25 and NCAA 14's dynasty modes is recruit and play games. There is no other depth to either mode and I feel CFB25 does recruiting significantly better even if it is still flawed and potentially too easy. CFB25 also finally allows you to hire and fire your coordinators instead of it being automated like 14. And, I feel pipelines are done better and more logically in CFB 25 as are coach skills.

What NCAA 14 had was the team cards to see their schedule, stat leaders, and history. Any page that had players on it like award races you could click on player cards to see their ratings, season stats, and career stats. And you had the ability to schedule neutral site games. On your team schedule you saw the opponent's combined record.

If those things were added to CFB25's dynasty, I think it would be a no brainer as to which is better. I still would like to see more depth to the mode, but going off what each did and did not have, I think even in its current state CFB25 is the better mode.

Agree with Canes - this dynasty mode is an absolute blast. There are definitely things that need worked on, and definitely a few bugs that need ironed out. But this was a game that was built from zero - the fact that the gameplay is so good is amazing to me.

One other note - the fact that Madden doesn't release a patch for a month after release and CF25 released a patch 4 days after release should give folks some hope for future improvements this release cycle.

Re: Dynatasy: Any Redeeming Qualities?

Things that are better in dynasty after about 6 total seasons:

Player progression seems better. Potential and skill caps create good differentiation.

Recruiting is better. You see big schools swooping in on guys last minute and poaching them from smaller schools like they should. I find the entire system to be very good and can expand on that quite a bit, but it seems to do a good job of replicating reality while also being fun.

Coach skills are better. Progression is super quick for the first ~20 levels yes but it levels off hard after that. The things you pick matter. I don’t see “must have” skills like 14 had. You need to spread it out or cover it with coordinators but that’s risky since when you hire yours you may have to choose between someone who covers your weakness or someone with a good pipeline.

Coordinators are better. Pipelines matter, skills matter. I wish there were a bit more depth here but it’s clearly much better than 14.

Those are, to me, the core aspects of dynasty anyway. There are things I’m not happy about, but all in all? I think it’s much, much better. And I loved 14.

People saying the old Dynasty modes were better--I encourage you to go back and play them today. It's a combination of nostalgia and us being younger when we played those ones and more willing to use our imagination and suspend disbelief to overlook things. 25 does virtually everything better. There's a few minor QoL things and bugs that hopefully can be straightened out, but otherwise I'm really impressed by Dynasty this year.

All of this. Just give me those QoL updates. let me see players stats in the heisman race and awards races or at least let me click to see their player card.

And please give us formation subs back.

There are bugs that need to be fixed, but dynasty is fun. I think the gameplay is great, and I love the recruiting. Iron out the parts that don’t work, and this mode is amazing.

Re: Dynatasy: Any Redeeming Qualities?

On field gameplay in 25 is better
Progression in 25 is better but that was fixable in 14 by ratings editing
Coordinators actually mattering is better in 25

Custom conferences and scheduling are way worse in 25, hopefully this gets patched soon
Customization is way worse in 25, hopefully we at least get ratings and number editing patched soon
No formation subs in 25
Teambuilder is worse in 25, mainly because it's limited to online only, but I don't see that getting patched/changed

I played 14 dynasty 2 weeks ago, aside from on field gameplay and built in playoff, I prefer it to 25. The coordinator thing is a nice perk but doesn't make a big difference to me. Recruiting is more in depth in 25 which is nice but sometimes I enjoyed the simpler approach that 14 took so that's a wash for me. The huge negatives are lack of ratings/number editing and the bugs to scheduling and custom conferences. I don't WRs on my team wearing numbers in the 30s and 40s or positions other than QB, K, P, and maybe a couple WRs taking numbers in the single digits or teens. Ratings editing helps keep the dynasty viable as a long term pursuit as well when going 10+ years into it like I would like to. Teambuilder is currently unplayable for me, can't get an online dynasty to load with a custom roster. That's not a huge deal, but I would like to play with a Teambuilder team at some point.

Those things alone give 14 the edge to me. And hell if I were given the choice I would take 14's dynasty mode just with 25's on field gameplay if that were an option, even given some of the other improvements they have made to dynasty mode. It's just the things that are missing from or broken in 25 are much more important to me than anything they added in.
