Dynasty players: How is the coaching carousel?

I really enjoyed the coaching carousel in NCAA 14 Revamped. How does CFB compare? Anybody played/slimmed multiple years yet? Are you seeing decently realistic results? Are believable coaches leaving programs after poor performance? Chasing better opportunities when succeeding?
Are you seeing offers to coach at Osu or Alabama after one or two decent years at New Mexico St?

If it’s borked I’ll probably hold off on starting with a weaker team since my passion is performing well enough to get the big time HC job at a powerhouse.

Thoughts?

Re: Dynasty players: How is the coaching carousel?

It’s broken
Mid major HC who do well ( top 25, etc) take OC/DC jobs at schools like Oklahoma, Purdue, Syracuse, etc yearly. Fake coaches are also tough to keep track of.

After my first year at Kent St I had HC offers for Memphis and a few other schools. 2nd year I took Kent state even further and had no HC offers.

The single most disappointing feature for me. How do you get so much worse after 10 years?

It's not broken. Works like it did in the past more or less. Haven't seen issues.

Re: Dynasty players: How is the coaching carousel?

It's a little wonky, but it's there and seems to work at a passable level. It's hard to tell exactly what is going on because of the fake names and the interface. Too many HCs are taking jobs as high level coordinators right now. They way overdid the Chip Kelly logic.

Scheme seems to play a huge role, probably even a little too big. The schools themselves have desired schemes, and so they really prioritize coaches with that same scheme. Some of it makes sense, for things like the military schools, but I don't think it should be playing as big of a role for something like veer and shoot vs spread vs air raid. I've had years where I wasn't getting offers I thought I probably should, and others where I was getting offers beyond what would be realistic, and I think the scheme matching is the main driver of that. If you have a dream job in mind, you should run their scheme if you want a crack at it. Starting as a coordinator isn't quite as enjoyable as it was prior, imo.

I don't like the layout near as much as '14 and the prior NCAA's that had the carousel. It really is only showing your perspective, so its much more detached from the carousel as a whole. I like the idea they're going for the the timed offers across weeks instead of 1 by 1, but you can't really see what's happening in the universe as a whole, and the other tabs for tracking it are difficult to use when you don't know any names and can't look at who left a school unless they're fired. I lost a coordinator recently in the last week of the carousel, and didn't get a prompt of anything to hire a new one.
Since it was the last week, the cpu just threw me one. Not the end of the world, but I would have liked to have had a chance to know and get some input. I thought I was checking every week to see if they got hired, but there is a chance I just missed the one week, and didn't have the time to catch it the following week, so I don't want to completely blame the game for it.

I'm afraid its not something they will really change much going forward, as it seems like the UI they favor with how Madden is too. I wish they did a better job at bringing the storylines to you, instead of having to dig around everywhere to find out what's going on. Show me more information at the home screen, especially in the tabs you scroll with the right stick. The older NCAA games were much better at that.

Re: Dynasty players: How is the coaching carousel?

It’s pretty dumb to me. I’m doing a test dynasty as HC of PSU, and in my first year I went 10-2 and won the Big Ten. I was offered the DC job at… Akron. Oof.

I was also offered the OC job at FIU. Yeah bc that makes total sense. At least Kelly went from mid-level P4 to a Top 5 program, and there were extenuating circumstances.

I did get two HC offers: Pitt (massive downgrade) and Wisconsin (downgrade, but less so).

Realistically, the HC at PSU is only leaving for 1. A top 5 program (UGA, OSU, Bama), 2. A great program with stupid money (TAMU, Texas, USC), 3. The NFL

So while this part of the game isn’t a huge issue to me, it seems to be pretty random and broken.

You do realize they couldn't just copy/paste the code in from the PS3 version to this one, right? That's not how game development works.

This game was entirely made from scratch (outside of the game engine).

So no, it wasn't "10 years in the making". It's more like 1.5.

Works good so far. Would be nice to apply to any position you want though. I had the JMU job offered to me after year 2 and i'm not ready to go there, still have unfinished business at my school, but down the line that's a job I would definitely be interested in.
