Force Win Strategy to get somewhat realistic results

The sim engine is broken, as is the poll logic. The only way to get somewhat decent results is to force wins. Here's what I do...

1. Force wins for P5 and ranked G5 teams against FCS teams
2. Force wins for P5 teams against G5 teams if they're at home. The exception being a lower P5 team, like Vandy.
3. Typically, I let the sim engine take on conference play, but I've read some people force wins for Top 15 vs. unranked teams at home, and Top 10 vs. unranked teams on the road. Will try that.
4. Force losses for any team getting an at-large bid in the CFP with 4+ losses. Realistically, no team with 4+ losses will ever make it as an at-large team.
5. Force losses for any lower level P5 team who is getting to be highly ranked (i.e. Charlotte, Jax State), especially if they're playing a decent team.
6. Force wins in the conference title game for ranked teams vs. unranked, or, if there's more then a 15 spot gap.

This has yielded somewhat realistic results. It's been mostly SEC/B1G teams, and no more than one G5 team has made it each year. The only G5 team to have gotten a bye was 12-1 Boise State.

The semifinals have mostly been P5 blue bloods. The title games have been Oregon over Alabama, Georgia over Michigan, and Georgia over Notre Dame.

Something to try as we are waiting (hopefully!) for a patch.

I’m going to use a RNG for all top 25 games. Use a number generator from 1-10000. In a game where a team would be a 30+ point favorite the RNG would have to be below 10 for them to lose, 20+ point favorite below 100, 10+ favorite 1000, and then in games where a team is a slight favorite it would need to be below 4000.

Re: Force Win Strategy to get somewhat realistic results

I've been using force win/force loss to sort of even the playing field on a sim engine that brings unexpected results consistently.

It's a PIA that it has to be done, and I really hope they get this solved but it's gotten me the results I can live with.

I haven't actually poked around with this much yet, can you just force win/loss any game even without controlling those teams? How do you do that?

Go to the weekly schedule page. Find a game and click on it. There's an option to force home win or force visting win.

I'm assuming not, but do we know if the sim stats for games that are forded are any different than the non-forced games?

Re: Force Win Strategy to get somewhat realistic results

This would fix random results but not poll logic. I saw a screenshot, I forget where it was from but it was either on OS, EA forums, or facebook. Anyway, some guy was controlling South Carolina and he was 9-3 and ranked #1 overall ahead of 11-1 Alabama. There were also a couple other headscratchers from the same poll, including either OSU or Michigan ahead of the other one despite having 2 fewer losses.

Im doing something very similar and love the results (Obviously its ridiculous we have to do it) and it takes me 2 minutes at top. I let some games take care of themselves, but I just make sure to avoid the absurd things that we've been seeing with teams like Charlotte, UNT and Rutgers
