House Rules for recruiting?

What house-rules are you going to use for recruiting? I think its pretty easy so far after 1 season - esp if you look at the players who don't have any offers after weeks 3-4.

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

Keep things as local as possible, something like
• 65% in-state kids
• 25% rival-state kids
• 10% national kids

I realize for some states this isn’t really possible, and for other states it wouldn’t really make things any more difficult, but you get the idea.

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

Haven’t played with recruiting yet, but from what I’ve read, I’ll use one of my NCAA14 house rules where I can add anyone I want to my board preseason, but after the season starts I can’t add any 5*s while coaching a big school, or 4*s while coach a medium school, and maybe no 3*s while at a small school.

If the recruiting tree is too strong (which I find likely) then I’ll limit what I can get there like I did in 14.

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

I'll likely be sticking with some combinations of what I used in years past for NCAA games and Madden games.

1) Can't recruit more than 1 star higher than my school's prestige (Unless in top 3 of recruit's interest from the start

2) No scouting to 100%. I'm thinking maybe basing the percentage I scout on the recruit's ranking. But I know that coach abilities and such let you recruit more with less "scout" usages so that might be difficult.

My hope is to create more boom / bust in the recruits and limit any ability to cheese "above my weight" in the recruitment game.

Don't recruit players who don't have offers? Seems like a simple rule that no one wants to follow lol. Besides that I don't think many house rules will be needed other than maybe don't go for 4 and 5 star guys if you're a 1 or 2 star school.

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

I always start with a created team or one star team. Pretty sure I’ll do the same as 14:

- I won’t upgrade any coaching trees
- Instate I can recruit up to one star higher than my program rank.
- I can also only recruit bordering states, and those players cannot be more than program rating.
- No juco
- I also never scout over 50% (can’t remember, I may have only done 25%)

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

After seeing how bad the AI is at recruiting and for some reason not offering scholarships; rules are definitely needed for me or I'll lose interest in this game quickly.

1.) Don't recruit past one star above your prestige (someone above mentioned this). If you're for example 2.5 stars prestige I am allowed ONE recruit that is 4 stars in this example.

2.) DO NOT add to board if they are do not have you listed on the top 10 from the get go. Too easy to fill board with guys no one is offering scholarships to and jump to #1.

3.) NO scouting at all. It doesn't make sense to know if a guy is a bust or not before he hits the field and plays. It's just so unrealistic to me so I don't do it. However, if you're going to let us see gems and busts, I do wish after you sign a guy it showed his attributes and gem or bust.

4.) No Juco players.

Hopefully they fix the recruiting and the AI actually FILLS their board, and the offers all 35 scholarships from preseason like us humans do. At least I do anyway.

Re: House Rules for recruiting?

You can only add players to your board that have you in the top 10 preseason. Also have done no scouting recruits.
