Examples of lead block attribute for linemen - CPU vs CPU broadcast camera

Something new is lead block attribute for linemen. Impact block is still there which is when the offensive and defensive player are both moving. There is another new attribute for linemen called finesse block. I'm guessing that's a trap block where the defender penetrates and then is pushed to the side.

2:49 right guard pulls and leads the running back through the hole.

29:36 left guard pulls and leads running back through the hole. Got there just in time to shut down the linebacker.

30:46 right guard pulls and picked up a linebacker but the safety closed and running back tried to bounce it outside. Notice the wide receiver who went in motion didn't block anybody. Probably has poor blocking attributes.

In 14 I ran out of several pistol formations and most of my running plays had a fullback or tight end in motion to overload one side of the line and block. On that last play if it had been a tight end in motion with solid blocking attribute would he have tried to block? I suspect he would.

Broadcast mode and CPU vs CPU look great. Looking forward to Friday.

I love this. I always challenge myself to run gap schemes. EA overdoes the zone schemes and it’s far too easy to run the ball. If I can run GT and GY counter with some success then we are cooking

I noticed an offensive lineman was injured. I'd hate it if that was overdone. Offensive linemen do get injured but not as often as other players. To see one get injured in 20 minutes of gameplay - not a good sign.

Wide receivers had the highest all-cause injury rate (30.28 injuries per 100 TGPs; 95 % CI, 27.90-32.82), followed by tight ends (27.44 per 100 TGPs; 95 % CI, 24.26-30.91), defensive backs (23.60 per 100 TGPs; 95 % CI, 22.11-25.17), running backs (21.90 per 100 TGPs; 95 % CI, 19.88-24.07), and linebackers

Run Block Finesse - a lineman's ability to block on zone running plays

Run Block Power - a lineman's ability to Block on man blocking plays

Pass Block Finesse - a lineman's ability to counter a defender's finesse block shed moves

Pass Block Power - a lineman's ability to counter a defender's power block shed moves

That is how they work in Madden. I'd assume the same for this game.

I'm guessing impact block is when a lineman goes to the second level and blocks a moving defender. On man running plays when a lineman comes off a double team to take on a linebacker or safety or directly go to a linebacker/safety in the case of a 3 man defensive line. Lead block the ability to pull and get to the point of attack prior to the arrival of the running back.

Impact blocking is used for open field blocking. Defenders are also rated in this category just like linemen. It is helped to determine who "wins" the collision.

It's purpose is to reflect how blocking at the LOS on a set play is different from blocking in the open field.

In a lead block scenario if the lineman gets to the point of attack and there is no defender there I'm guessing impact then takes over and he searches the open field for an unblocked defender.

The wide receiver who went in motion just stood there because he has a lousy impact blocking number.

Impact blocking doesn't influence their ability to see and target people to block. It just influences the success rate of their open field block when it happens.
