Question Did CFB 25 take some of maddens budget this year?

Honestly the difference in perception between the 2 products is pretty massive right now. On one hand College Football 25 is showing videos, massive new features, features that madden players have been asking for forever now, while madden 25 puts out a lazy trailer talking about jukes and more animations for like the 5th year in a row...

It just feels like 50% of maddens budget this year was put aside for CFB 25, there is no hype at all for madden.

Every year i hear "they only have so much time to make new additions and they cant change the game much" meanwhile first release of CFB 25 seems to instantly rival what 10+ years of madden has done...It feels very hard to justify one game when the other instantly upstages you in basically every aspect, and the new features in CFB25 such as being able to adjust your routes gets revealed there first and its like, "here madden, we can hook you up with this as well since you dont have it"

Maybe its just me and im being overly negative after playing the beta for a few weeks, but it seems like its candy and rainbows on 1 side and darkness/frustration on the other.

Re: Did CFB 25 take some of maddens budget this year?

I highly doubt they wouldn't have just created a new budget based on the expected new revenue for this game just like they do every other new game they've ever released.

And even if they did decide to take from other games budgets it would have been from the budget of every other EA game. Not just Madden since it's also a football game.

The other thing you mention is a real thing too. And it's going to impact college football next year the same way it impacts Madden every year.

You're seeing a lot of great things in the new game simply because they had two plus years of development without being hindered by any necessary post launch content additions that are done. Really nothing more or less than that.

Next years CFB will see a heavily reduced number of features and things "we've been asking for for the last 10 years."

Re: Did CFB 25 take some of maddens budget this year?

The reason why CFB is showing a lot is because it's arriving a month earlier than Madden, plus, it's been 11 yrs since the last time it was on the shelves.

I started a post that a few people commented on about a month ago with a interview from a few Developers of Madden.

They are excited about the in-house competition.

Competition now exists in-house, too, thanks to the return of the college game with College Football 25. If Madden ever needed reason to strive for more, it now has it.

For football and gaming fans everywhere, they can do nothing but hope for the best. Those at EA believe they're in for a treat.

"Our goal here at Tiburon (EA's Orlando office) -- and it's part of the reason we took everyone around on the tour, to show what the capabilities of our studio are -- we believe we are the capital, home, whatever the right word is for virtual football in the world," Mahar said. "We are uniquely capable at this studio of building football games with technology, people, talent, ideas that no one else can build. We understand that there needs to be two amazing but unique experiences for players to ideally play both. Because there's a lot of synergy and cool things when they connect, like 'Road to Glory' character and everything else, but they are unique. And they need to be.

"I think it's push-pull. It is highly collaborative, and honestly, while getting College (Football) off the ground initially was challenging, it's going to end up creating a lot of momentum for our players. Whether they play College or Madden -- or, ideally, both -- it's going to reap benefits everywhere."

this is why MLB NFL NBA NHL NEEDs to have 2 years between releases they can change 40$ in between years for a roster update and a extra 10-20$$ if u want new music menu screens

For stockholders, that is a terrible idea of reduced profits every other year.

For a gamer, that would be a great option.

Re: Did CFB 25 take some of maddens budget this year?

Just based on my own personal observation of EA Sports' job listings over the past couple years, EASCFB25 has had its own distinct dev team for the past couple years at least.

Additionally, just from a birds-eye view observation, a bunch of the features which have been added to Madden franchise mode over the past couple years have applications in CFB Dynasty mode (player motivations, coaches and coordinators with skill trees, even the Dynasty player progression system is eerily reminiscent of that in Madden Superstar mode).

I don't think CFB has taken Madden's budget per se as much as the existing resources in the building were aligned to work on as many things as possible which could be shared between both games.

Re: Did CFB 25 take some of maddens budget this year?

I played the Madden 25 beta a ton and although I can't speak about it, the answer to this is definitely NO.
