Smile Custom Division Ideas

Obviously, lots of people have talked about reviving the Big East, the SWC, even the Pac-12. But what about ideas for divisions in conferences? I'm not a fan of the no-division format everyone is moving to; just take a look at how complicated the tiebreakers are. So, I plan on using divisions in most of my conferences in my Dynasty. Here are a couple of thoughts I have floating around.

MAC: "Ohio" Division: Akron, Ohio, Kent State, Toledo, Miami, Bowling Green
"USA" Division: Everyone else

Big Ten "Blue Bloods" Division: Penn State, USC, Ohio State, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nebraska, Washington, Oregon, UCLA
"Underdogs" Division: Everyone else

Re: Custom Division Ideas

I was just going to make a thread dedicated to NCAA 25 Custom Conferences, but you beat me to it.

I've been working on custom conferences for a few weeks now and I keep changing them up.

I will say that with my conferences, I'm doing the most logical geographical locations while respecting rivalries (the most important ones).

Having said that, I have a spreadsheet with the Power 5 each having 12 teams, with Conference Championship games.

Then earlier tonight, I got to thinking about the Power 5 each having 13 teams and a mandatory 12 conference games without divisions. I just don't know if that will work factoring in the scheduling for everyone else across college football?

Being that your brought up the MAC, I'll post what I had for the 16-team MAC Conference below.

East

Akron
Ball State
Cincinnati
Indiana
Kent State
Miami (OH)
Ohio
Toledo

West

Bowling Green
Central Michigan
Eastern Michigan
Illinois
Northern Illinois
Northwestern
Western Kentucky
Western Michigan

Re: Custom Division Ideas

Not sure if I'm getting the game yet, but if I do I'm definitely doing divisions for every conference, and division winners meet in conference championship. Pac 12 will be restored as well.

Regardless, I'm going to need some ideas for the Big 10 as I'm back playing NCAA 14 for the time being, and possibly for the foreseeable future. I've added Notre Dame to the Big 10 and I've got geographical divisions set up, but I don't really like them for the same reason that I don't really like the "Blue bloods division" and "everyone else" division; one division is really stacked and the other is weak.

So what I'm currently going with is:

Big 10 East: Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, Cincinnati, Indiana, Purdue, Michigan State
Big 10 West: Notre Dame, Nebraska, Wisconsin, Illinois, Iowa, Northwestern, Minnesota

I made Nebraska better as they are a classic blue blood team I wanted to see do well, but they're still pretty uneven.

Same as you. I know that EA is masterful at the hype department, but I'm 100% holding off until I hear about the actual gameplay and lack of major glitches, etc. as I'll be buying a PS5 for this game exclusively.

Having said that, I'll be going with the Big Ten as follows:

Big Ten East

Maryland
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue
Rutgers

Big Ten West

Iowa
Iowa State
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Wisconsin

That's a pretty good setup. I moved Maryland and Rutgers back to ACC though as they are east coast teams. Cincinnati could take one of those spots but I would need to fill another spot. I do kind of like the idea of moving Nebraska back to the Big XII.

Thanks!

I definitely put Nebraska back in the BIG XII. You could also put Kansas and Kansas State in the Big Ten to replace Rutgers and Maryland. Could even steal Mizzou from the SEC to put back into the XII or even the Ten?

For my 13 Team Big 10, I did the following:

BIG TEN

Illinois
Iowa
Iowa State
Michigan
Michigan State
Minnesota
Missouri
Northwestern
Notre Dame
Ohio State
Penn State
Purdue
Wisconsin

I was going to do just a basic reply to the thread. For some reason, it won't let me. I haven't seen this site have a bug like this ever. I like divisions myself. I think I will try it the "new" way for a couple of seasons. I would like to see how "tough" the B1G and SEC are with the new team additions. I might go back to some of my created divisions after that.

I just can't roll with such a geographic mess that's become of College Football. Having USC and UCLA in the Big 10 is just outrageous and a logistical nightmare.

It's almost as if someone's 5 year old took NCAA 14 and made the conferences and the NCAA said "Yep, looks good!"
