Wear and Tear?

I'm concerned the effects of Wear and Tear may be too punitive. With only slight (yellow) wear and tear impact, players are losing too much of their abilities.

For instance, on the Donovan Edwards screen shot, he has slight injuries to his left shoulder, right leg, and left ankle. I'd venture to say most running backs, after most every game will be a little banged up. The fact that slight injuries to those body parts all have some of the same impact worries me. BTK is affected in all slight injuries to those body parts reflecting in a total of -10 in BTK. That's a lot. If they are indeed going to combine and add up the injuries in this way, slight injuries should be -1 or -2 and no more in my opinion.

I know you can toggle on/off Wear and Tear but I really like the feature and just hope it isn't overdone and too punitive. I don't want my 90 running back to be a 75 by week 6. Hopefully the recovery is done well to where they heal from the slight injuries quickly and maybe the screen shot was from what incurred during a game.

I think the blog said that all players are fully healed after a week. But I like it because now you must recruit depth and quality. You also have to be strategic with your red shirts

It depends on the severity of the injury. If you have a severe ankle injury, you can risk playing your star RB, or sit him to get full health for the next game.

If I'm not mistaken they said they put parameters in place so that players don't go missing during the season. So if they have slight wear and tear after a game, by the next game they will be fully healed, and if they have severe wear and tear, it'll be slight by the next game. I just think we'll have to be smart with managing the load during the actual game. Which begs the question, Wear and Tear is for all players, offensively and defensively right?

Seems to me, I heard or read somewhere, that we can turn off if we want to...just in case it's "overtuned" or something.

Re: Wear and Tear?

There appear to be coaching skills that reduce the chance of injury. I'm guessing the developers tested it to ensure it isn't overdone. In 14 only plays involving the ball were ones in which a player was injured. Offensive linemen didn't get injured because they never carried the ball or made a tackle.

As long as the cpu teams get the same injuries I'm okay with this feature. For running backs and quarterbacks I'll try to get the coach skill increasing toughness.

Re: Wear and Tear?

Another interesting thing about Wear and Tear is that it also happens when you sim games. That means if for example you choose to sim a game against an FCS team before a big game, one of your star players can run the risk of being banged up going into that next game.

Re: Wear and Tear?

The wear and tear system looks fantastic. True decision making will take place. Have a big game against school rival? You might let the player play. If you think you have a player on the depth chart who could fill in, you can do that and allow your starter to rest and recover.

Assuming it works, it looks fun and adds depth to week to week decision making.
