Are We Overhyping College Football 25

I'm very optimistic about this game, but I'm a little worried that I'm expecting too much.

All the pageantry and presentation is awesome the first time we see it on YouTube, and it will be great the first few times we see it at home, but the excitement will wear down for those things after we've seen -- for example -- our favorite team's entrance 10+ times. How many different motion captures did they film of Clemson's players running down the ramp? Will there always be an OL jumping up with both hands each and every time, year after year? If you play with multiple teams, this repetitiveness won't be as bad. But a lot of us pick favorites. Not saying these things are bad! Just saying they aren't deep.

I'm just saying, what we've seen so far that has blown us all away (the pizazz) will get stale pretty quick, I think. What will make this game last is the depth of its career modes minus any major bugs. We just don't know how buggy the game could be (might not be!), or how unrealistic player progression, recruiting difficulty, etc. will actually be. How responsive and enjoyable will gameplay be? EA can talk all they want, but we need to experience it for ourselves.

So bottom line I am optimistic. But I must tell myself not to get too hyped just in case something's amiss that I can't really live with long term. Fingers crossed. Thoughts?

No we are not overhyping at all
We are just happy it's better than the stale snail pace Madden we get every year
A pizza with more toppings will always get more hype than a plain pizza

Personally, I am just happy the college football game is back. That’s the core of my excitement. I am not under any illusion that CFB 25 will be the greatest game ever. It’s a modern college football game with all the trimmings.

Re: Are We Overhyping College Football 25

I think I'm personally a bit more hyped than I would be otherwise because it's the first game in 11 years + my expectations were set low and it's exceeded those quite a bit. That's okay to be, there will always be more hype for the first game in a decade, but I think I'm still holding expectations steady. Based on what we've seen I'm confident it'll be good with potential to be great or beyond. Tuesday's dynasty deep dive will be a big hinge point for expectations, that's where the replayability lies along with gameplay which looked good-to-great.

Maybe some here have hyped up the game a little too much, but I think there's been a good mix of optimism and cautiousness. Maybe it's that the stars feel like their aligning with a single player focused game + great staff + building most of the code from the ground up + next gen only that has people here (myself included) feeling like this game could break free of the problems most sports games have, which is exciting.

Exactly, it's the hype I'm talking about. But if a pizzeria focuses too much on the mushrooms, sausage, etc. and forgets that all good pizzas need a good crust, then the pizza won't be worth it even if the variety is there.

Overhyped? I wouldn't say that. Just excited.

My expectation is that it will be the first college football game in 11 years and my first chance to play a college football game since 2018. My other expectation is that it will have dynasty mode and that I will be able to play my team's games with good gameplay and recruit new players.

Those are my expectations. That's what I want. Anything they put in dynasty is icing on the cake for me.

This is why I have been saying we don't need wishlists for future games in the series. I am just excited to have a college football game back.

We don't need crazy long wishlists for the game. That's when disappointment sets in. I am personally going to enjoy whatever we get in this game.

No overhyping here. Just excitement to play a college football game in 2024 and beyond.

Re: Are We Overhyping College Football 25

No, my hype has only been dictated by the information shared to us. I had mid expectations for the game and so far it's looked like EA has done well with their vision.

Things like coverage shells, players entering the portal and remembering you finished 2nd, players being attached to coaches and transferring to be with them, etc. Those are all the things building my hype and I'm not sure how I could be overhyping anything when my hype is based on only confirmed info so far.

I'm sure there are people dreaming of mechanics that likely won't be in the game and are hyping themselves up that way, but that's not where I sit, so I don't feel the game is overhyped, personally.

Regarding repetition. I'm the type of player that all these years later still watched every NCAA 14 intro, always watched the halftime and weekly recap shows in 2k5, and always watched Extra Point in Madden. Those were all repetitive. I can live with some repetition when it's trying to make the world feel more inmersive like those features all were.

Speaking of snail pace
Looks like college is already about to run a lap around Madden
But what if someone say Madden didn't have the time that college have
Well they did have time but didn't use that time they had for Madden jump to next Gen
They should have taken that one year off before the PS5/Xbox-series launch but they wanted to clout Chase and greed more more sales
