Re: Strat-O-Matic Baseball Max
I was a beta tester, and also tried it when they had the free rollout release.
I didnt like it, to be honest. It is a step toward trying to be something that strat o matic isnt. OOTP has the graphical powerhouse engine. Dynasty League by Pursue the Pennant has the web-based offering that is many years past Strat in its development.
Games were very slow. Poor graphics. No immersion. Its a very rigid product in comparison to Strat's CPU flagship game, and it has given me a greater appreciation for the possibilities that come with that game. There was very little possibility. Just control 1 team through a season. Out of town games take forever to sim too. Being web-based also eliminates any real chance at significant user-mods. Their price points are also going to be too high.
I wish they would have poured those resources into their Strat PC game. Soup it up graphically and UI. It is already an extremely robust sandbox of a program. Make it look like (or better than) Action PC or PC Replay, maybe slap a subscription/'season ticket' fee on having access to all their seasons, and I think they would have been more successful.
