Took me 20 years to find out

Umm, why didn’t anyone tell me playing as a coach is different than playing as an owner? So many things to do. Storylines. It’s incredible. Swear to God, I just found this out after playing Madden for 20 years. Has it always been this way or what year did it start?

I feel like it’s a whole new game!

Scenario engine has only been around 5 or so years now, so that's basically when it started. Be aware that the CPU does not get offered many of these same scenarios, if they get any at all, so some of them like Breakout Scenarios give the User a pretty big advantage. This may not matter to you, but it's good to know.

The CPU does get breakout scenarios . I've taken over several coaches throughout the season and they have breakouts when I get to the main tab. I don't get many as an owner but I have definitely gotten them in that role.

I like the IDEA of owner, so you can hire and fire head coaches as well, but the revenue doesn't really scale from my experience and once you do a couple years of free agency you don't make money back to sign more players. Or maybe I'm doing it wrong and someone can correct me.

As a coach, it is pretty fun to get the scenarios, hoping for more variety or something in M25.

Coach MODE is just calling plays and watching them do it without you moving the players on the field. You still do everything else outside the games.

I was actually going to ask this question myself. Overall I think playing as a coach has better scale of rewards than the owner does. Basically as the owner you can set prices for your merchandise or your stadium prices, you can also talk to the media throughout the year that will give you outcomes based on your replies. If you plan on firing your HC then I would go owner when selecting a team, if you like the HC you have and plan to keep him then I would go with the head coach as the in season scenarios are better, plus you can still fire/hire your coordinators
