Agreed, but I’m afraid it’s RIP to any chance of seeing an IndyCar game for consoles

Not necessarily. iRacing is developing the next NASCAR game. If that goes well, I don't see why Indycar wouldn't sit down and atleast discuss the possibility

That puts us off to like 2028 before a sniff of console game for Indy though, and that is best case.

I'm still of the crowd that thinks an Indycar game wouldn't sell well at all, so I'm far more interested in running the 500 in iRacing

Yeah I think a better option for an IndyCar game would be to focus solely on the Indy 500, and have version of the track from early years, to current, with the different types of cars that have ran through the years, and then a variety of fictional ovals and road courses outside of that to do a progression "career" through the years, or just attempt the Indy 500 each year.

Being just up the road from St. Petersburg, which traditionally opens the season, I'm not exactly impartial here. That said, Indycar often gets overlooked outside of the Indy 500. But if video games can expand a series' potential audience--World of Outlaws had no business being that much fun--then why not expand the potential player base? Just my $0.02.
