Is lead passing exist when playing proam, Rec etc?

Is this only a mechanic when playing by yourself? It seems like it wouldn't be functional online since you can't control the other users....

And why do my break starter passes resulting in ridiculous catches and also changing my teammates route completely? I only play proam and my PF has 86 pass and gold break starter. Is there some special way to do this because it’s kills us in the break. I’m getting the board and icon passing instantly before the camera angle even flips.
