MLB The Show Pet Peeves

These are just minor things that annoy me about the game. Not glitches, not big deal items but more why isn't this fixed.

1. Juke Box choices not saving, so every time game loads up have to check off selections all over again.

2. The Top 100 is released way before the game comes out, so why arent a lot of those names of the top 100 not in the name database.

3. Curved Caps distorting hat logos, either get rid of curved caps or ..maybe time to update your graphical engine ?

4.Schedule randomizer, why do we have to play the same exact schedule every year.

5. The player camera in Franchise. DD is player centered so I get on home runs just having the replay of the player hitting the home run but in franchise..show the home run. Especially at the half inning replay..I want to see the highlight of the actual home run not the player hitting the ball , that kills immersion. I'm watching a game on TV they show the home run should be no different.

Just a few off top of my head

CPU overall logic i.e. lineups, bullpen management, rest day lineups, etc. For how much work is put into it, it seems those little parts of the game are overlooked. Makes no sense for it to still be an issue.

Re: MLB The Show Pet Peeves

My Opinion as a Single Player, MLB Like Presentation, Clean Screen Nut:

1. Would love the option back to be able to turn off the no doubt HR camera (ruins the excitement; not sure why they took out the flight of the ball view like when the computer hits a no doubt HR)

2. Would love the ability to turn off all notifcations, helper icons whether auto fielding / manual throwing or auto throwing / manually fielding:
a. Would be great to be able to turn off the blue fielding circle completely
b. Would be great to be able to turn off the cut off throw, L1 switch user prompts completely

3. For Broadcast mode, it would be great to be able to have the game play out all cut scenes and such until pressing the controller button to skip; To this day, it still looks very odd that the animation is cut in the middle when the catcher throws the ball back to the pitcher, for example...it is correct one time per game when the umpires are introduced if you let that animation play out...should be 100% of the time in my opinion

A few things off the top of my head

My biggest frustration by far was SDS adding giant insects and bombed out buildings to Stadium Creator. There were 100+ items they could have added to increase the realism of created stadiums but they decided the masses wanted to play baseball in a stadium out of a Godzilla movie. At least it left no doubt that SDS focus is not on realism or creating the most authentic baseball experience possible.

Re: MLB The Show Pet Peeves

I agree with most of these.

I do get why they do a set schedule, though. Creating schedules takes a ton of work, and it's tough to randomize. There's a reason all the sports leagues have people that take months pouring over schedules, and every sports game that I can recall ends up with some really wonky schedules. My preference would be for SDS to do set schedules, but to have a few more of them. If they recycle every 8 seasons or whatever, you're probably not really going to notice as much that they're being recycled.

The lineup/rotation/roster management is a big one for me. It's just very outdated. Probably 95% of the time irl, teams carry 13 pitchers these days, but the CPU will often carry only 12. Lineups largely go on philosophies from 2008.

Shifts/Shades has become one of the biggest issues for me. They're bad in game. The infield shift with nobody on is fine, although the game doesn't really do it enough. But as soon as runners are on base, it gets screwed up. By default, the game won't shift left or right at all, they'll only shift depth with runners (and even then, just double play or in depths). Teams absolutely still shift with runners on base; that isn't new. Teams should still be shading to pull in Double Play depth. And a middle infielder should still be able to hold @ 2B and be positioned to Shift Right/Left without being forced into playing "Normal". The outfield shifts are just bad in general. They're WAY too extreme. Players are normally taking a few steps to the left or right in the outfield, but SDS moves CF almost into the gap.

Even the "Straight Away" shifts are off. The default, normal shift should be shift left/shift right, and then extreme left/right should be for the pull hitters. The only players who should be getting "Normal" are the more extreme opposite field hitters. And the Normal shading in the OF is also off; for a right handed hitter irl, the CFer will normally be a couple steps to the 1B side of 2B, not to the 3B side.

Little things, but I wish holding RT/R2 to bring up pitch history also brought up stats (even better if you could decide which stats) and pitch selection (even if you have the Pitch Selection graphic turned off).

And lastly, equipment. I'm not even necessarily talking about missing brands, like Bruce Bolt or whatever. I want better colorway options on existing equipment (I'm looking at you Nike/New Balance with uneditable white logos). I want a color wheel (the fact that you can't do the baby blue a lot of players use or the purple a lot of D'Backs players used this year is bonkers). I want home/away options. I want hand guards and thumb grips for hitters, toe guards for pitchers, and the oven mitts baserunners predominantly use. QB wristbands for catchers. Pitchcom keypads. There's just so many pieces of equipment that you see in every major league game that is completely absent from The Show.

No edit to managers,

not seeing your own farm system top 10 in the organization

Not being able to see prospect in list form while scouting

Re: MLB The Show Pet Peeves

I like all of these thoughts what has really killed me is MLB The Show used to be the best looking game in sports games now I can make an argument its the most dated. ESPECIALLY the player/uniform models its inexcusable.
