I Really Miss Start Today

One of my favorite features up until last year when it was no longer regularly updated was start today. I loved starting a franchise in the current week and taking over a player who is on pace to break a record to see if I can get the player over the hump or start a new franchise to see how the league could react to a seismic shift like a major injury, return from injury, or breakout player.

Is there anyone else out there that misses this being updated regularly?

Also, is there anyone with tips on how to best recreate it? Forcing wins and losses is easy but the broken IR system makes it tough. I’d love to play this weeks games in franchise with a healthy Cooper Kupp and breakout Puka Nacua but to do that I’d also have the possibility of playing Aaron Rodgers and the Jets in the superbowl which breaks immersion for me.

I used the feature every year. Don't understand why EA stopped updating it weekly and failed to communicate it clearly to the customers. Can't say I'm surprised.

It's honestly one of the features I think WA needs the most since it's become a guarantee franchise mode won't even work properly until we're halfway through the real season each year.

I'm guessing it's a matter of usage and upkeep.

It isn't used enough to justify the weekly upkeep. However, I think the main problem is they lack a proper pipeline for updating. It's probably done by hand by a single assistant producer because EA doesn't generally have the foresight to build tools that make these things easy.

If EA made the ability to use start today offline instead of just keeping it to online franchises I guarantee it would get more usage.

I’m pretty sure NBA2k’s Start Today is mostly automated. To be fair though, it’s had a lot of down time over the years. Still, EA should have been able to build a similar automated infrastructure by now.

They likely could have, but the amount of fixes that take less than 10 minutes on the modding scene that EA has neglected for years is enough for me to never expect anything from EA regardless of how easy it may seem.

How many years has the CPU team been attempting unnecessarily long FG's until it was finally patched this patch? That's literally something we were able to fix in mere minutes. Many of the logics are able to be fixed in under an hour, but EA just doesn't touch them at all.

It's clear that whoever drives the decision making with resource allocation does not care about focusing on polishing many smaller items that would add up and really make the game feel much different.

i ALWAYS wanted a franchise that can just go along with the weekly roster updates, im not into doing my own imaginary league, i want to play a season with accurate rosters
