Hitting tips

Anyone recommend hitting tips? Cam view? Mostly a beginner in the show and I’m missing a ton of balls

Re: Hitting tips

I got better at hitting when I started laying off pitches down in the zone. Anything that breaks down except a curveball is very tough to pick up down in the zone, the ball just kind of falls off the table without showing much break to help you identify the pitch and I would swing at tons of balls out of the zone because of this. You’ll be vulnerable to fastballs in the bottom of the zone but it’s worth it if you’re laying off bad pitches. Force the pitcher to work up in the zone and pitches are much easier to identify, the movement seems to be much more pronounced

That, it takes a while to learn. When I'm striking out alot I notice I'm chasing low stuff. I normally use catcher near or wide camera settings. Idk if it's just me , but the cpu tends to keep going low if I chase alot. So if I lay off normally, I'll get one I can make good contact thrown in the k zone.
Plus for me I had bought the dualsense edge controller and changed the r stick to quick. My vision isn't the best at 38, so I think that helps me. Not to the point where I'm cheating the game, but to where I'm not late most of the time on low 90s fb. On the contrary I have to be more patient on breaking stuff due to the quick setting.

Grizz - My two cents is to take a lot of pitches and wait for fastballs. This helps in two ways; fastballs are easier to hit but also it tires the starting pitcher. Once their pitch count gets up over 60 they are more vulnerable. Getting the starter out of the game gets you into your opponent’s bullpen who are typically lower rated players.

1 - Dont get too frustrated. Hitting on TheShow is TOUGH. Some days I feel like im crushing everything and some days I cant even hit mistakes.

2 - The best adjustment I have made is switching my mindset and trying to visualize the pitcher as if I was actually the hitter. Instead of simply trying to move the curser to the ball and swing, I try and mentally visualize if its a pitch a could actually hit in real life. This approach has helped me to stop swinging at everything and focus more up in the zone.

Re: Hitting tips

Envision the swing and the hit before the pitch.

Have in your mind what it is you want to do to the baseball.

This can be anything. You wanna hit it out of the gd stadium to RF? Bash the SS right in face? Bloop-job over the 3B’s head? Whatever it is, in order to do those things you need a fairly specific pitch in fairly specific spot and you need to swing at a fairly specific time.

With me?

And then you wait on it. When it comes you bash the **** out of it. If you don’t get what you’re looking for, you take it or do what you can with it.

That’s how to hit. Honestly. It’s that simple. You will absolutely rake and hit piss-missiles all over the field when you’re on, and you will fail miserably when you’re off. But that’s how it works.

Here’s a cool swing to illustrate the point; I’m very very literally thinking about hitting the ball to the Comerica sign in RF here (please pause the vid if you need to); see if you can feel that prior to the pitch coming in. So when I get THAT pitch, it’s OMG.

Feel me?

Good luck my guy.

It seems so simple, but I completely agree with this. On anything before two strikes, I typically try to hit the ball according to the hitter's tendency (shown on the pause screen, among other places). Whether placebo or not, I feel like the timing window opens up a bit more when you play to a hitter's tendency and it makes it easier to make solid - or any - contact. In today's game, that means a lot of swinging early to pull for some extra power and to aim for fences that are nearer to home plate (with some balanced, down-the-middle timings mixed in here and there). Of course I miss badly sometimes when I take that approach, but it doesn't cost me anything more than a strike. My approach often changes on two strikes so as not to strike out so easily (though I don't go as extreme as using the contact swing very often), but for counts where I lose very little for missing I absolutely have a plan in mind for where I want the ball to go.

Bro absolutely. I don’t want to get negative but this reminds me of a post I made a while back where I said that the timing-window in this game is on-the-straight-money; literally if you wanna hit better, watch some hitting highlights, they will show you where the hitting windows in this game are; the hitting-windows in this game are that good.

That post got zero likes. I remember this not because my ego was like “nobody like my post?” but bc I was shocked, no one thinks these timing-windows are money? I’m literally still a little miffed by it. Will this post get any likes? Do you guys not agree these timing-windows are sick as hell?

If you know wtf you’re doing at the plate and are actually seeing pitches, the window is 1:1 with real life, stg. You can put the damn ball anywhere you want, to the inch. Y’all don’t agree?

What I’ve always thought and argued here and there is that this game lets you get away with too many bad swings. Waaaaaay to much “easy” contact when you absolutely should’ve got air. This throws off EVERYONE’S timing window bc they’re getting feedback that is ultimately incorrect. (THOSE posts never get any likes either!)

But with that said, I’d say make no mistake that core timing window is there and it’s perfect, and if all you do is chase *it*, then that other stuff stops happening. You draw a millions times more walks, and you strike out a ton more too.

Sorry if this is slightly rambling. It is a fairly monster subject after all. “How to hit.”
