2K23 Coaching Sim Gameplay Scenario (Xbox Series S/X)
I've been on OS for years and used several rosters for 2K over the years. I'm a Knicks fan and I never liked the unaggressive gameplay of most rosters. I wanted to make this scenario because I felt there needed to be more variety in gameplay and a more aggressive CPU.
CSG scenario isn't another copy of the several other rosters and scenarios you can find. We have taken the best aspects of the well-known ATD roster and the philosophy of Sheitan from CoY, and added our own personal tweaks to make them unique. We have spent countless hours collecting data, creating formulas, and testing the results to ensure that our roster is balanced, accurate, and fun to play with. We made the AI as smart as we could this year by using statistics, formulas, and data.
Here are some of the features that our roster includes:
- New player tendencies that are stat-based and make players unique with smarter Artificial Intelligence. You will see players behave like their real-life counterparts, taking shots, passing, dribbling, defending, and more according to their strengths and weaknesses. Tendencies have ranges to improve decision making and keep things in-line several years into the future.
- Updated shooting attributes based on stats that allow badges to perform without being overpowered. You will notice that shooting is more realistic and consistent, and that badges actually matter and make a difference in the game.
- Updated rosters as of 8/10/23 with all 2-way players and contracts included. You will have access to the most up-to-date rosters with all the latest trades, signings, injuries, and ratings changes.
- Rookies drafted in their respective draft position along with attribute/badge and tendency edits to keep them in scale. You will be able to enjoy playing with the new crop of rookies that have entered the league, and see how they develop and improve over time.
- Coaches rework that helps teams perform like their real-life counterpart with coaching sliders and POEs updated. You will experience different play styles and strategies from each team, depending on their coach’s preferences and philosophies.
- GM rework to help with staff management and the trade engine for realistic trades with a purpose. You will be able to build your own dynasty or rebuild a struggling franchise, while facing realistic challenges and opportunities in the front office.
- MyNBA sim sliders that perform for long MyNBA simulations with accurate stats year after year. You will be able to simulate multiple seasons and see how the league evolves and changes over time, with realistic results and outcomes. Teams handle and free agents with great intelligence. Progression is realistic to the real NBA, and custom simulation stats match our unique tendencies. Thanks to Sheitan at CoY for the MyNBA sliders.
- Sliders for CPU/CPU games along with playoff sliders. Gameplay is tweaked to be very accurate and true to the real NBA with these sliders. Feel the intensity of a playoff game.
- Playbooks incorporated from both ATD and CoY to allow for CPU plays to give each team an identity along with filtering out plays that don’t work too well even if they’re used in real life. You will witness more variety and creativity in the offense and defense of each team, as well as more effective and efficient plays.
- Deep Draft Classes that keep things going for the entirety of your MyNBA. Each player is defined with its own position and player-type, with custom ranges to match our roster. Potentials are generated to realistically help the progression in future of your MyNBA. Only 2% of all players can have a potential of 90 overall, 30% a potential of 80 overall or above, and different player types start at different potentials to represent top-end talent more accurately.

Salary Cap Slider:
The salary cap and hard cap doesn't increase, breaking contracts.
- Go to "Options" and then "Tuning Sliders". Go to "Contracts."
- Change "Salary Cap Value (Millions)" by 3. If the value is maxed out, set "Salary Cap" to off.
- Change "Hard Cap Value (Millions)" by 3.
After Progression:
Shot Under Tendency:
This tendency randomly changes every season, leading to broken simulation stats.
- Go to "Roster" and then "All Players".
- Go to the "Shot Under" tendency in quick edit, and globally edit everyone's shot under to 0. Then globally increase by 20.
- Select only PF and globally increase shot under by 10, which means everyone is at 30.
- Select only C and globally increase shot under by 30, which means everyone is at 50.
FAQ: Shot Under Tendency:
Q: This isn't very specific to individual players, is there really no solution?:
A: This has been extensively tested and there is no solution other than manually re-entering the tendency. Globally editing is the best solution because shot under is a sim tendency only and sim stats have not changed much in our testing.
Q: Why don't PGs, SGs, and SFs need to be edited?:
A: All of those positions should be globally edited to 20 and that happens in step one when you globally increase shot under from 0 to 20. It works because nobody is under 20 in shot under.
Q: Are there no other tendencies to fix?:
A: Tendencies like the shot tendency and 3PT tendency change, but it has been fixed by editing attributes. Changes are now much more mild.
These tips are important to keep your MyNBA realistic:
- While in-game, set freelance to 21 Delay for one of the two teams.
- Do not change POEs too much, they can make a bad team good and a good team bad. You might have to experiment.
- If you manually hire a coach, you'll have to change their sliders, POEs, and more.
- You need to import a CSG draft class every season, and it's easy to make one. There's a guide below on how to use it.
- While in your MyNBA, make sure to control all 30 teams. If you're doing a franchise with one team, make sure to enable automation for every team other than the one you want to control. Leave untouchables off for all teams though. When controlling all 30 teams even with automation turned on, you might get trade requests or get scouting reports. If it's a trade, just decline it. If it's scouting, automate it for every team besides yours, and then it won't bother you again.
How to make a draft class: These draft classes will have realistic potentials and realistic players for future simulation and gameplay. Big thanks to Sheitan at CoY for making this sheet back in 2K22!

1. Go into the Rookie Generation tab, double click on random player type and click enter.
2. Go into the 2K draft class creator and load a draft class. It can be any draft class that you want to do this for, but these archetypes are made for the modern era. Then, import the player type corresponding to the player type in the sheet, so 1 equals the first player in the sheet. Make sure to import attributes only. You can do as many players as you want.
3. Set average potentials based on the potentials generated by the sheet. Leave max and minimum potential, as well as boom, bust, and average.
4. Do a global +1 or something for players with a high enough potential to create generational players who are more likely to become generational.
5. Edit intangibles to make everyone about a 75 overall. You probably don't need to do this though.
6. Bonus: If you get no generational players generated by the sheet (90+ overall) and you want one or two in your draft, manually set their average potential between 90-92 for preferably all-around or two-way player (they are usually the best in the roster, but if you want an HoF 3&D or something then go for it) and then globally uptick their attributes by 1 or 2 as said in step 3.
7. You're done!

As far as simulation stats go, numbers are extremely accurate compared to the real NBA. The only problem you may see is terrible automatic awards and inflated rebounds, but everything else including standings look great. Regarding the awards, you may need to override a lot of them. You can play several years and everything will still work great. The maximum difference other than defensive rebounding is 3%, which you can see in the uploaded sheet! The scenario is not on PS5, but it should be for 2K24 as 2K announced crossplay applies to scenarios too.
In the coming days, we might upload some draft classes for you to enjoy soon and update the scenario for more realistic sim stats and upload the sliders. This launch is pretty bumpy and the roster is basically a test for 2K24. In 2K24, we can do more things in less time.
(The updated scenario and sliders are uploaded already, but they're under a different GT so we need to take time to transfer it, and we're pretty busy this weekend.)

Thanks for posting the scenario! Just wanted to give people an updated scenario to pass the time until 2k24 comes out. We have user sliders that are challenging and cpu/cpu sliders that help the cpu/cpu games play fun and realistic that will be shared.
The roster will be constantly updated and worked on until 2k24 drops so keep checking back for updates and changes. Hope you give them a try.

This sounds/looks awesome. Any chance the roster could be uploaded by itself? Think I might stick with 23 a little longer than usual this year and would like to customize the MyNBA schedule a little.

It would be possible. Although it's not a priority for 2K23 (it is for 2K24) because of all of the playbooks and POEs that are needed to re-import, (while we still need to upload the sliders and draft classes) we'll try to do it soon.

Ahh gotcha. Whatever you’ve got would be appreciated, if I can find the time I’ll screenshot and reinput playbooks/POEs myself.
