EA and 2k “house rules”

What’s everyone’s house rules on both games to keep things as close to sim as possible? Since things have been a little dry lately, thought this might stir some good discussion.

2k. No chipping on greens unless you would have to putt through fairway . No pitch shots with anything stronger than a pitching wedge. Back tees always. At least Medium Wind. At least Firm Fairways and Greens. Nothing slower than Green Speed 155. Legend 3 Click.

Re: EA and 2k “house rules”

I don't really have any house rules for 2K in terms of gameplay, although I essentially adhere to TGCT standards when I play (no chipping on the green from within 75 feet, or when the putting line is blocked by non-green surfaces, etc.).

I do have a more "clean" screen in terms of the HUD I use. Elevation info is not on the marker, but is on the upper right, under the ball lie and club selection information. I turn off swing meters and such, and only get the swing feedback meter to show post-swing.

The only extra rules or guidelines I really enforce upon myself are in career mode to keep things "realistic":

- the fake U.S. Open rotates every year between Pebble, Torrey South, and Pinehurst No. 2
- the "North Shore Open" event is played every year at Torrey North
- the "Champions Invitational" event is played at Spyglass Hill
- The "Knott Championship" is played at Payne's Valley
- I must wear/use only clothing and gear from the brands I am sponsored by. Currently, I have Cobra for apparel (which means I wear Puma or Cobra items), and Titleist for clubs and ball
- when I choose my next rival, it has to be the lowest ranked player in the FedExCup standings on the current tier. If I lose to a rival, I must pick that same rival again the following week to seek out revenge...haha

Re: EA and 2k “house rules”

Playing 2k21 for the Switch. Instead of playing the subpar career mode, I just play local rounds and match up the schedule with the real tour schedule. So example, I just played TPC Deere Run. I play simultaneously with real life and whatever the cut is, I have to make to play the last 2 rounds. I didn't make the cut. Whenever there is a round where 2k21 doesn't have as an official course, I just try to find one that is most similar in difficulty and play.

Been doing this all year, and am really enjoying it.

Use official controllers only. Don’t shout Sim play is where it’s at then dumb the game down with aftermarket controllers.
