Madden 24 - Penalties

Been reading many of the threads on Madden 24's beta feedback and the deep dives. Didn't buy last year for the first time in ages (maybe ever), but this one has me intrigued, based on what I've been reading (understanding that Madden will always be Madden, warts and all), with one exception - the lack of penalties again. This more than anything takes me out of the "simulation" aspect of the game. So important for the ebb and flow of each drive; would also obviously keep scores down. Has there been any word at ALL from Duece, a blog, or any dev that explicitly addresses whether or not they are going to un-nerf those sliders this year?

So far there has been nothing about penalties discussed by anyone actually associated with the game. I tried to ask Deuce here in the thread where he was answering questions and that was something he did not answer. I am sure that is not his area in the game anyway, so I did not expect him to answer or even know the answer.

It is an area, as you know, that needs addressed in a MAJOR way. Penalties were great in M16 and the penalty sliders worked well in M16 as well. Since then it has only gotten worse and M24 beta was worse than M23 in terms of penalties being called in a game. The sliders seemed to have less impact than previous years.

Yep

It's always hush hush when discussing this in those threads.

I was playing ncaa 14 a few days ago and I was amazed at the amount of penalties called in that game compared to my experience with madden 23 last year.

It's part of the reason why I decided to shelve the game after a few months of playing it non stop. Loved madden 23 initially then the lack of penalties and presentation just made it stale.

I'm sure I'll initially start out loving 24 but if penalties remain non existent I can see things going south again.

It's a shame to because I feel like EA is so close to making a helluva game.

Has anybody experimented with roster edits and turned all the players' traits to "undisciplined" to see what effect that has, if any? I plan to mess around with that to see what happens.

I tried that for 2 teams with '23 and it made no difference( 2-3 per game still)but I didn't have time enough with the beta to do that so it's certainly worth a try but I'd be surprised.

Agreed. I can live with the presentation being lackluster (again), and the repetitive commentary - I'll just mute and play music through Spotify. But the on-game stuff - penalties (and injuries) - just kill it for me. Such a huge and basic part of the game that's just not implemented correctly year after year. So frustrating.

Anyways, we'll see what the inevitable Day-1 patch brings.

It is amazing that EA can't just open penalties up in Simulation Mode. it's basically sacrilege, that they're not there.

Assuming we're seeing more injuries this year, and at different positions, especially RB and QB, the addition of Penalties would completely change the game.
