Too many HRs as Pads

I'm doing a Padres chise where I play every game... im on dynamic difficulty, HOF hitting/ Legend pitching.. my problem is that the Pads have way too much power and its easy to hit HRs with Soto, Machado, Tatis. It's to the point these 3 players either strikeout or HR and literally nothing else. What's the best slider to keep the stats realistic instead of each of these players having unrealistic HR numbers

I was having this same exact problem on default HOF hitting, every thing else felt great. I was slugging .463 with the Mariners and averaging nearly 2 HR per game through a decent sample size.

I’ve recently put CPU pitch consistency up to 7. This way you get way less meatballs and a lot more borderline pitches. By not touching any other slider, you can still hit HR and XBH, just won’t get nearly as many of those very hittable pitches. I felt like I was getting atleast 1, if not 2 or 3, very hittable pitches per at bat on default HOF.

However, I am not positive CPU pitch consistency at 7 is the right answer, as I haven’t gotten a very big sample size. I tried 6 for a little and was still scoring at least 3 runs every single game, which made the games boring and predictable. Not mention, then I felt like I had to buff the CPU offense to compensate.

At 7 I really have to work hard to score more than 4 runs, which I think is good. I’d love to get some input from you with the slider at 7.

PS - Im playing directional/classic controls. Default legend for pitching and default HOF for hitting besides that one slider. So seems like we have very similar skill levels.

Re: Too many HRs as Pads

My 2 cents:

Unless you are already maxed out, I've found not touching sliders, BUT instead, increasing pitch speeds tones down my offensive output.

Retro view, HOF, max pitch speeds is very challenging.

Even meatballs aren't a gimme that you will make solid contact.

I appreciate the suggestion. I'll try the slider on 7 and hopefully the pitchers wont throw junk pitches over the plate... especially curveballs over the plate..so ridiculously easy to hit. Anything to get more base hits. I prefer small ball to just hr after hr. I'll play a sample size of 10-20 games and see if its better

I had the same problem early in this cycle. I highly recommend going to legend and bumping contact and timing up 1 each.

Legend isn’t too hard this year. It plays very well.

For me personally, I didn’t really enjoy legend when I gave it a go. Things felt a bit too random for the USER, too many times I was getting good timing on good pitches and not getting good results, even with good hitters.

In my personal experience, HOF allows for the most variance in outcomes. I feel like if I’m patient and get good pitches, I can put up some big numbers. But if the CPU is hitting their spots I can definitely be shut down.

It’s hard for me to justify something being too easy if you’re not on Legend Hitting. Go to Legend - then if it’s too easy you start messing w sliders. It’s the equivalent of me saying fishing is too easy b/c I’m catching blue gills.

Kind of how I view it. Not saying anybody is right or wrong but if HOF is too easy I’m absolutely going to legend.
