Tendency questions (My Era/1992)

Here for some advice from the masters.

Just finished a gruelling deep dive into tendencies, league wide for the 1992 season. (Using MJ's INCREDIBLE Eras roster) Doing some fine tuning and have a few gripes/questions:

*All playbooks and playtypes have been edited/modified to my liking to reflect tons more post play and mid range - does having ACE on or Off have more of a benefit to seeing the teams run their plays?

*Guards stopping on drives to pull up - I have most dynamic guards who can shoot at around 15 - 22 pull up, should I just completely zero this out to get them to drive? Or does this tie more in to 'finish at the rim strong' tendency?

Thanks for any assistance, fellas.

I'm not 100% sure if ACE comes into play as much for the ERA rosters compared to the modern rosters, BUT some of the modern teams are HARDCODED to play a certain way. You can still get around this by tweaking the playbooks and play types although it is not a 100% solution.

Regarding the pull-up tendency that does factor in a bunch with players taking pull-up mid-range shots. I PERSONALLY max the tendency at 25 for elite pull-up guys but most stay around 10 and under otherwise you are sacrificing drive attempts.

Also, another thing to factor to think about is the DRIVE tendency as that is how relentless a player is to continue his drive once initiated. That along with "Attack Strong on Drive" will factor into finishing at the rim more often.

Those are just some of my personal thoughts. This year I have not dove into play testing each tendency as I had in previous years so you may have to test a few of the theories above and find the balance that works for you but should be pretty simple as likely the scale strength may have changed but the overall concept hasn't if that makes sense.

Thanks so much for the input, I'll tweak some of these things and see what the results bring. Appreciate the feedback.

Re: Tendency questions (My Era/1992)

I was thinking of the Era teams tendencies and the regular classic teams tendencies the other day. I think we all have notice alot of the tendencies don't seem or play out accurate when playing against the classic players. Except for the ones in the Jordan Challenge. You notice players like Patrick Ewing or Bird or Isiah Thomas are beast in the Jordan Challenge but don't play like that in the Era's mode or in the regular classic teams rosters. I'm wondering if the tendencies for the players are different/more realistic in the Jordan Challenge? I know the only way to see those tendencies is to go in the mode a play one of the challenges and go into the players menu and look at the tendencies. I'm betting they are better and more realistic for most of the star players.

Literally, everything. The legends tendencies are so jacked up every year, it takes forever to go in and get everything amended.

I normally hold fire until MJWizards releases his awesome rosters, then deep dive from there. Emphasis on getting players to take more mid range shots and post up more. Work on playbooks and play types is also crucial.

Re: Tendency questions (My Era/1992)

Any advice? I’m on xbox so I dont have mj wizards rosters (i only have his sig shots wich are awesome for legends) I have erased some badges (I think that Bird have chasedown artist?!?) but I am am absolute noob on that; only use default rosters and scenarios made by vdusen.

Try to edit some dunks and sigs (i remember using your jordan sigs un 2k20) but I dont know how to replícate old school; i’ve tried to raise midrange but then i have players like Nique only shooting 15 jumpers

Glad you like 2k23 Your videos and edits were incredible un 2k20. We used to have lots of retro rosters un xbox (hokupguy hyperdc, portland,sellaz32) but now that We have the best content available We are alone

It's basically a massive deep dive to fix the countless errors in tendencies and badges. Not to mention playbooks. The retro teams have hardly any mid range plays and not nearly enough post up options. Badges are a mess. I swear I saw Rodman with either 'Agent 3' or 'Claymore' equipped. It's ridiculous.

Global user/cpu tendencies will help. Raise mid range, post up and drive, whilst lowering 3 pointers. Raise all fouls across the board to aid physicality.

You'll need to focus on individual player tendencies like spot up/off screen mid range. Really raise the post up/shoot from post tendencies for big men.

Make sure you amend the touches/shot sliders to get superstars the ball in their hands more.

Finish strong on drive needs to be high for slashers and athletic players who love dunking, also lower the play discipline for superstars who can take over a game on their own. I normally have guys like MJ around 10. Other stars capable of scoring big, around 25.

Just a side note - I'm in no way a roster/tendency guru. I just do the best I can to simulate past eras of hoops.
