Looking for Ohtani trade input

I always like to create my own universe in The Show and 23 will be no different. I like to write out storylines as the season progresses and the major storyline will be Ohtani.

If the Angels fall out of the race, what would a realistic package look like from the following teams for a half season Ohtani rental? And which teams would be most likely? (Assuming they are all in the race).

Dodgers
Mets
Padres
Yankees
Phillies
Cardinals

Thanks in advance!

the Mets.
1 - if anyone can afford any and all players, it's Cohen

2- if anyone can afford to realistically trade away a great player or package of players, it's the Mets

so anything you work out with the NY Mets is realistic as far as I'm concerned. so fleece 'em. get in, get who you want from them, and get out. Mets will do more than fine with Ohtani and whoever they lose in conjunction.
my only concern is how this impacts Atlanta lol

Awesome! Would Alvarez and Baty be too big of a realistic pay for the Mets, given there is competition from other teams for Ohtani?

I think the Mets would jump on that particular 2-for-1 in a heartbeat
and it would be the Angels get the raw end of the deal,
unless for some reason LA needs to cut payroll and that's the direction they want to move

I dont think its enough. LA would need to get more in return, I feel.

Sent from my thoughts

Re: Looking for Ohtani trade input

I think Alvarez and Baty is too much of an overpay. I know not everyone loves Baseball Trade Values, but it has Alvarez's median value at 63.0, Baty's at 42, and Ohtani's at 61.1.

Thing is, by the deadline, Ohtani's value will be a decent bit lower than that because he's a half season rental in this scenario. And Alvarez and Baty's won't be much lower because they still have tons of control.

I could see the Mets doing something like Baty, Parada, and another prospect or two. I just don't see them moving Alvarez and Baty for one post-season run with Ohtani.

Re: Looking for Ohtani trade input

I have a strong feeling that Seattle will be a major player for Ohtani at the trade deadline, if this year is anything like last.

Off-season, if available, I think SF is going to be all in on him based on this offseason events.

If trading for him in game, being the Mets or anybody else, you have to remember he is above and beyond the greatest player of all time. I don’t think we can even imagine how great he is. So, if trying to keep things somewhat fair or realistic, you almost have to act like you are trading for 2 Ohtanis.
What I mean is, what would you trade for Ohtani the pitcher? Oh, now what would you trade for Ohtani the DH?

There you go..

if the Angels trade Ohtani in-division to Seattle,
they'd be bigger fools than even I can imagine.
and I can imagine quite a lot
