And from the FAQ re: 30fps on consoles:
“We understand that some players have a strong visual preference for higher framerate in their video games and we’ve heard community feedback surrounding the fps of the game on console. As a result, we’re examining the ability to add it into the game in the future.”

Re: EA PGA TOUR Info Schedule & Community FAQ

No cross play is kind of a bummer, especially since "the other game" will be getting cross play right around the time EA's game launches.

Sounds like weather is totally static...you can't even change if it's cloudy, sunny, partly cloudy, etc. It just is what it is.

Challenges sound like a lot of fun.

Frostbite must not be handling this as well as we'd hoped.

I have to think the lack of dynamic weather or time of day (totally static environments in this way) are strictly due to it tanking performance.

No Crossplay is enormously disappointing and honestly makes we wonder if the PC game will actually be supported over the long term. I have to think the user base size there will be orders of magnitude smaller than on consoles.

I'm glad to see they say are "constantly evaluating the possibility of this feature appearing post-launch.", especially if they are going to have cross platform progression.

A golf game always has a tiny audience relative to things like FIFA & NFL
For it to really thrive and be vibrant, we've got to have cross platform play.

I see they made an attempt to tackle the concerns about dial-a-distance golf..

I appreciate the effort, but it really just reinforced the point about actually executing a good swing is but a tiny fraction of what will matter.

(i.e. it's probably still "put the arrow here and barring some massive misstep, you'll get what you dialed in")

Re: above

Anyone else find it strange we can't have a more nebulous "100%" point of the actual analog swing, which would really help mitigate dial a distance .. and thus require developing some feel in your swing and learning and executing consistently the correct time to start downswing...

...but we do have "Power Boost"?

And how on Earth can they be talking about "real golf" and "discussions with your caddie" ... and then have th audacity to mention factors like "in-air spin"

EA -- that is not a thing in real golf.
Rory's is not rubbing a knob on a remote control to impact the spin of his shot mid-air

That is a straight "golden tee at a bar" type of nonsense feature.
lol

I know I'll be turning off power boost and spin control as soon as the game launches. I want to play as realistic as possible.

I would love to just see a circle instead of an arrow. Depending on a number of factors (wind, shot type, difficulty level, attributes) it would just give you a bigger or smaller circle and then as long as your swing was reasonably accurate, you’d fall in or immediately surrounding that circle. Probably works best with stick controls.

Thinking a stick + pulse hybrid from MLB The Show.

That's actually exactly how some of the early 2010's Tiger Woods games were...

You'd get a circle under the landing zone, and it could be narrowed down by using "Focus", which you'd earn throughout the round. The circle would be huge if you had low skills, or would be small if you had high attribute ratings. Here it is in TW 12...you can see the circle is huge for this player, playing in his first event:
