Interior Defense got a MAJOR buff

Between yesterday and today, scoring in the paint has been super hard compared to how it's been earlier in the game cycle.

I'm seeing a lot more red contests, and more slightly contested layups missing. Also seeing more dunks in traffic turn into layups.

I do like this change though, as it makes the game more of a challenge.

It's a horror show for me - some of the shots me and the CPU are missing just because a defender is within five feet is comical. If the defender is slow to contest or slightly out of position and I can get to the basket, why am I penalised?

It doesn't improve the gameplay one bit, it's just lazy coding and means people have to adjust sliders for seemingly the millionth time in the past couple of months.

Here's a lay-up I just missed:



The guy has a 91 rating for driving lay-up. The defender got there late and as a result, was unable to jump. But the game still determined it to be contested, the lay-up rimmed out and the commentators talked about what a great bit of defensive play it was (which tells me the game recognised this as a defensive contest rather than just a blown lay-up).

Interior defense and scoring was too easy before. It’s better this way.

EDIT: Nevermind. I see what you mean. The interior defense is fine. But shot success inside is abysmal now. I’m bricking hilariously open inside shots and layups.

Been bricking a ton of 2 handed dunks the last couple days. Have 93 driving dunk with Gold Slithery and Gold Takeoff. Working on Posterizer. But my buddy with 99 driving and all HOF badges is rimming out also.

Stick or square doesn't matter.

I'm sorry, but if you're not blocking a dunk there shouldn't be a player based ability that makes you flub dunks.

The AOE defense is getting nuts.

Def noticed this since Season 4 started

With about 50 badges to circumvent paint defense this was needed…

Even with that said, slashing still reigns supreme.

Meh more like they broke it again.

Missing wide open standing dunks and standing lay ups with my big for no reason just cause someone is in the general area i guess.

Slashing however is fine as people can just go through you lol.

Step back 3 are as easy as it gets
