Players Can Unretire?

First time I've ever seen this. Year one of my new franchise, Aaron Rodgers retired at season's end after Green Bay missed the playoffs at 9-8.

One season passes, and suddenly Rodgers is available in the free agency pool.

Glitch, or is this just one of those insanely rare features you never see?

Re: Players Can Unretire?

I saw it once with Brady in Madden 20. Back in Madden 25, this was a feature, but it was predesigned at that time I think (ie Brian Urlacher would always pop up out of retirement after year 1).

This is probably a remnant of that, because when a player retires they're taken out of the free agent pool table and all other player related tables, and in the main Player table their entire row is emptied, meaning that they shouldn't be able to come back via a glitch.

Did he retire or was he on the free agents list all season?

He retired. Completely gone. I keep track of all QBs in my league, and there's zero chance Cleveland with their 68 overall QB wouldn't have signed him, since he was still a 91 overall X-Factor.

I've seen teams in madden refuse to sign aging veterans in Free Agency no matter how bad their current talent is. Wouldn't surprise me if he was just sitting in Free Agency for the year.

Like I said, I track all the QBs in my league, just to make sure a team with a young QB didn't sign Tom Brady (looking at you Falcons). Rodgers clearly retired.

Re: Players Can Unretire?

When players retire in M22 in the Franchise Editor you can absolutely see a column designated for "Return" so it's probably still something that can absolutely happen. Just rare and there might be some really high thresholds for triggering it (like being an elite player before a certain age).

This is a feature from M13! Rare, but cool when it happens.
