Stopping bigs in the paint?

Hey guys,

Def enjoying the game, any tips or defensive settings you guys change to stop bigs like Gasol, Duncan, Garnett etc

Seems like they jus get inside position so deep so easily and sometimes feel like Impossible to stop even when you set to double on the catch.

Yeah the inside game for the AI is very OP to the point of being frustrating. The best thing I’ve found to combat this is to play defense as the C or PF and prevent them from even getting position in the paint .

Stick to them like glue and body them up. It helps stop them from getting position down low. Once they get the ball in the paint it’s almost impossible to stop them from scoring

Re: Stopping bigs in the paint?

definitely 2k11 vibes in the paint, and to make matters worse it's not just bigs.

on the PNR the roller can catch hard to intercept passes in the paint and its over by then, you think that the AI is bad, play another user that spams the paint uses bigs it points or fouls all day

Re: Stopping bigs in the paint?

After 4-5 Years that classic bigs didn’t get any love from the CPU, finally things change.
I’m personally don’t have a problem slowing them down, yeah they maybe scoring 20-25 points on me, but doing so while shooting mediocre percentage.
Just be between them and the basket, don’t let them shake you off, timing your attempt to block, sometimes they will miss, sometimes you will block there shots, and sometimes they will score ( we are still talking about the great Tim Duncan and KG). I’m loving see them work inside (even if they against me)

This is anecdotal at best, but I find I have to lay off intense D to avoid getting backed down. In my experience intense D is really good at cutting off Left-Right moment but when it comes to being pushed backwards you need to let it go, and just body him up. I tend to feather turbo during these moments but not sure if it helps or it's just a mental / placebo thing

It makes sense - a square stance can't handle moving backwards and forwards as well

I’m not sure if this is as viable against the computer as it is against a human but you can try the “shrink the floor” defensive strategy and the 3/4 bottom strategy to give yourself some relief

Hands up works fine if not undersized.

Hands up is vital imo.
The biggest difficulty in not getting worked inside is biting on pump fakes. I am training myself to not leave my feet as often. I'm good with hands up contest if they make it, they make it.
