Does anybody know the REASON certain players opted out?

Like Barkley, Webber, Reggie and Sheed?

I mean, I'm GUESSING it's cause they don't think the money is enough, but all the other players think it is?

I mean, isn't SOME money better than none, especially when everybody else is making that amount?


I know we can create them, so it's no big deal, just curious as to the players' reasoning.

The only player that I've known to speak on his own omission is Charles Barkley, who said the following.

As for the rest of the players, I would presume it's generally a negotiation issue or disinterest.

Many classic players included in 2K are likely negotiated with en masse, by way of the Retired Players Association. This likely makes it easier to secure rights, as 2K may just be dealing with a singular association rather than negotiating with each individual player.

When it comes to guys like Reggie Miller though, I imagine he may operate outside of the retired players association, meaning he'd have to come to an individual agreement with 2K. And perhaps he'd like more for his name than 2K is willing to provide.

Moreover, there's also guys like Tayshaun Prince, who retired recently enough to not yet be a part of the retired players association while also not coming to an individual agreement with 2K, leaving him in video game purgatory.

Remind me of when Randy Couture wanted a few million dollars and residuals for EA to use him in their UFC games. I know Joe Budden said for the Def Jam fighting game they got paid very little for how much the game made and he would never do a videogame again because the contracts they offer is bad.

I watched a video on YouTube that was like 2 hours long with a guy going into detail about the new players on the eras rosters and now I can't find it.
He gives specific reasons why each of these guys aren't in it.
Key points I got from it were, Barkley is greedy and 2K burnt a bridge with Sheed so he'll basically never be in.
