Re: PGA 2K23 Trailer

CrazyCanuck's initial impressions after playing the game for about an hour:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j8QY3J6S4pg

Highlights:
- played Play Now mode only, as several pros
- real life pros have real life swings
- Got to play East Lake and The Renaissance Club
- Played on Xbox One X
- biggest takeaway is progression...progression is huge and new to the series. MyPlayer levels up just by playing
- you can level up general skills...things like shot shaping, timing, etc.
- each golfer has different skill levels - not everyone has the same skills, including the Pros
- you can't make a MyPlayer that will have 99 overall everything
- takes a lot from NBA 2K
- some in-round skills can also be leveled up, and those are attached to the club you are using (driver one called "Tee Time" gives you a boost, but it only activates if you hit 4 bad timing drives)
- they turn on and off as the round goes on, and how you play
- some passive skills are there, too, and are always on
- related to progression, offline progression also moves to online play in societies
- tried 3-click...it's his new favorite swing
- not traditional 3-click...press and hold, release, click, click?
- didn't find out if swings could be locked by societies
- splash shots are bunker only
- punch shots back
- at end of each round, you get a loot drop...different tiers of items are available (shafts, balls, etc.)
- consumable golf balls...don't worry. You won't run out of them. Sounds easy to amass golf balls just by playing, not pay to win
- definitely more arcade-y
- didn't get any look at the designer, can't talk about it
- pot bunkers are in the game, look great at Renaissance Club, but AREN'T IN THE DESIGNER
- could be course designer DLC, however
- lots of post-release content expected...more than the 2 seasons of Clubhouse Passes that 2k21 had

Re: PGA 2K23 Trailer

I liked that video/trailer a lot more than what we'd seen previously.

Very much ready for this game to release.

And I’m sold. Day 1 purchase. Though that maybe be surprising to some around here. I’m just here for a fun golf game. Looks like they have a lot to offer. Only negative is not sure I like the idea of “loot boxes”

Re: PGA 2K23 Trailer - New Controls, New Courses, More Features

Watching another video, the one from b101...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=99wyJazb5cs

- green speeds can go up to 192...2K21 only went up to 187
- chip shots are more challenging
- bunker play is more challenging, too
- every tree has been redone and re-modeled
- they intend to support the course designer post-launch more than in the past
- that does beg the question...how do courses from 2K21 look when ported to 2K23?

Wonder if there’s an option in there to revert to tgc19/ EA control scheme?

That’s one thing I hated in 2k21.

A good description of how the 3-click swing works in 2K23 can be found here:
