A New Era in Seattle: Madden 23 Franchise

A New Era in Seattle

After 10 Years of Stability at the Quarterback position, and a winning tradition in the Pacific Northwest, a new era is beginning in Seattle. Gone in the off-season is Russell Wilson, and Bobby Wagner. The heart, and soul of the teams offense and defense. Two sure fire Hall of Famers, and the two players that led Seattle to the only championship in the franchise's history, . However still in place is Head Coach Pete Carroll, and a young hungry roster ready to prove that they're more than just their former star QB, and all-world linebacker. There's still a lot of familiar faces. Jamal Adams, and Quandre Diggs are still one of the most formidable safety tandems in the league shoring up the back end of the defense, and while the QB will be different. The targets remain the same as one of the most dynamic WR duos in the game still exists with Tyler Lockett and D.K. Metcalf. Speaking of the QB. Incumbent Geno Smith, and Drew Lock, who was acquired in the Russell Wilson trade will battle it out for the QB1 job. Many around the league believe this is a time for rebuild in Seattle, but Pete Carroll wants none of that talk, as he still believes this team can compete for a playoff spot. Time will tell who is right.

Preseason Depth Chart

As for the main battle coming into camp. Geno Smith is currently listed as the teams QB1, but a battle in training camp will ultimately determine who is behind center for the Seahawks this season. The rest of the roster is below:

The Schedule

During the Russell Wilson era Seahawks fans got used to multiple nationally televised games every year. That is not the case this season as the Seahawks will have just two national night games on the schedule. Of course the first one being Russell Wilson's return to Seattle in Week 1. The other game Seahawks fans are looking forward to is the team's trip over to Berlin, Germany in Week 10 when they will play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Re: A New Era in Seattle: Madden 23 Franchise

Seahawks Drop Preseason Opener

Pittsburgh - Both Geno Smith, and Drew Lock looked sharp at times in Seattle's preseason opener, but both had bad interceptions as well, one returned for a touchdown, as the Steelers defeated the Seahawks in the two teams preseason opener 22-17. It was really the defense that starred for Seattle in this one, holding the Steelers offense to just three FG drives until a fourth quarter touchdown put the game away. Neither QB really established themselves from the other in this one, and the QB1 race in Seattle is too close to call as of now. The Seahawks will have their lone home preseason game next Thursday at Lumen Field against the Chicago Bears.

I love a good QB battle. This team has a lot of fun playmakers at the skill positions outside of QB, I'm excited to see you run this.

Re: A New Era in Seattle: Madden 23 Franchise

Lock Shines, but Seahawks collapse in 4th Quarter

Seattle - Drew Lock got the call to start in the second preseason game for Seattle, and he did not waste the opportunity. Lock had the offense moving up, and down the field in the first half, throwing for two touchdowns, and 223 yards. Geno Smith played the second half, and was serviceable throwing for one score, but the offense was notedly more explosive in the first half under Lock, and one would think he has the upper-hand in the quarterback battle headed into the final preseason game in Dallas next week. It was the defense however that was a concern in this one. After shining in Pittsburgh last week the Seahawks reserve defenders got torched in this one, particularly in the fourth quarter as the Bears pulled away. While the results aren't the end all in pre season contests the Hawks will no doubt want to clean things up in the finale next week in Dallas.

Seahawks End Preseason With Whimper

Dallas - Things got out of hand early for the Seahawks on Saturday, and by the time it was over the scoreline was an abysmal 55-3 defeat to the Cowboys in the final warmup before real games start. No one really impressed on either side of the ball, and made a case for themselves to make the roster, and it leaves the coaches with some interesting decisions to make for the upcoming season. Roster cuts must be submitted later this week and then it's on to Week 1 against the Broncos on September 12th.

Pre-Season Wrap Up

The Seahawks have trimmed their roster to the NFL requirement for 53 players to start the 2022 season. There were not too many surprises among the releases, but the big news was the QB announcement. Drew Lock won the starting job for Seattle to begin the 2022 season, with Geno Smith as the backup. The entire roster and depth chart is below:

Re: A New Era in Seattle: Madden 23 Franchise

Week 1 Preview

Seattle - One of the most anticipated games on the NFL calendar this season kicks off in Week 1 as Russell Wilson makes his return to where he was under center for a decade as the Broncos take on the Seahawks on Monday Night Football. Wilson was beloved during his time in Seattle, but how he forced his way from the team left some fans bitter at the super bowl winning QB. There will no doubt be a mixed reaction among the fans at Lumen Field when they see their former star take the field in a new uniform. The game no doubt will be a great way to put a bow on week 1 of the new NFL season.

Other Games

There are some other marquee games during the exciting Week 1 slate. It kicks off as it always does with the Super Bowl Champions hosting the first game of the season on Thursday night, and it should be an exciting high scoring affair as the Buffalo Bills come to Hollywood to take on the defending champion Rams. Then on Sunday Baker Mayfield will take on his former team the Cleveland Browns during the early slate, while Kyler Murray and Patrick Mahomes face off in the afternoon in a battle of young exciting QBs. Sunday Night will feature Tom Brady making another run at a Super Bowl starting off in Jerry World against the Cowboys.
