Week 5
The Dallas Cowboys improved to 3-2 on the season with a convincing 41-10 victory against the Steelers at Acrisure Stadium on Sunday night. The Cowboys opened the scoring with a 6 play 66 yard drive which culminated with a perfectly placed 37 yard pass to running back Malik Davis for a 7-0 lead, On the Steelers next possession Justin Fields threw a pass meant for receiver George Pickens that was intercepted by Eric Kendricks on the Pittsburgh 45, six plays later Dak Prescott hit Jalen Tolbert with a 26 yard touchdown pass giving Dallas a 14-0 lead which set the tone for the rest of the game. The Cowboys amassed 452 yards of total offense led by Prescott who went 25 of 34 for 300 yards and 5 touchdowns. Jake Ferguson led all pass catchers with 10 catches for 73 yards and a touchdown, CD Lamb contributed 5 receptions for 87 yards and 2 touchdowns. Rico Dowdle paced the running game with 19 carries for 115 yards. The defense was dominant for the most part allowing the Steelers 278 yards of total offense, led by Eric Kendricks who recorded 16 total tackles and had an interception, Demarcus Lawrence recorded 2 sacks. The Steelers who were unable to establish any type of consistent offense throughout the game were led by Justin Fields who completed 23 of 49 passes for 181 yards with a touchdown and an interception, Najee Harris who in the previous week against the Colts rushed for a team record 249 yards was held to a paltry 33 yards on 13 carries, Pat Freiemuth had 8 catches for 52 yards, Calvin Austin added 3 catches for 49 yards and scored Pittsburgh’s lone touchdown. The defense was led by Patrick Queen who registered 14 total tackles and a sack. The Cowboys return to AT&T Stadium to take on the Detroit Lions who will be coming off their bye week after suffering an embarrassing 45-10 home loss to the Seattle Seahawks the previous week.
